Principal's Message
Global Education at Pleasant Union
During the month of March, Pleasant Union is "Going Green". During this month, our students will learn more about ways to take care of the earth. This includes learning about ways to save energy and conserve water, keep our environment clean and healthy, and easy ways we can reduce, reuse and recycle. Our lobby bulletin board has some ideas for you this month! 5th graders will get a visit from Meteorologist Kim Deaner, who will address some of the Science EOG standards regarding weather and climate.
On March 17, we encourage everyone to wear green. Specialists will do large group activities all day that focus on “Going Green.” If you work in a job that is directly linked to a “Go Green” topic and are interested in giving a talk to our kids or donating items like reusable shopping bags, flower seeds, coloring books about energy, etc., please contact the office! For more information, you may also reach out to Ms. Freer at mfreer@wcpss.net.
Safety Drills
March 2-6 is Severe Weather Awareness Week. On Wednesday, March 4, we will conduct a Tornado Drill. We practice these safety procedures so that students and staff are prepared in case we experience a severe weather event. During the month of March, we will also have a lockdown drill. This is a district guideline so that students and staff know the procedures in the event of a crisis on campus. Please talk with your child about these upcoming drills. Please contact Mrs. Perry or me if you have questions about this.
