1. Today Mr. Davis KISSED a PIG . . . . actually two PIGS! This happened because we met the $12,000 school-wide challenge that he set for our fundraiser. The TOP fundraising class from each grade had an extra recess with Mr. Davis today in the gym also.
2. Our Veterans’ Day Program will be at 1:00 on Monday, November the 11th. Meet us by our flagpole if you’re interested celebrating with us.
3. We have added an eLearning Day on November 19th. More details can be found in the letter below from our Superintendent Dr. Olin.
4. The Scholastic Book Fair has been very successful! It will remain open through Monday morning (Nov. 11).
5. Our next GCSC School Board Meeting is on Monday, November the 11th in the GCJHS Cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. This is also our semester Celebrate Excellence recognition.
6. Christmas Assistance applications will be available from Mrs. Miller until November 15. Families, churches, or organizations who wish to sponsor a family in need should also contact Mrs. Miller.
7. Gently used coats, snow suits, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves and boots are being collected at Steak ’n Shake now through Saturday Nov 23rd. Items will be handed out on Nov 23rd from 11a-2pm at Steak ‘n Shake.
8. The Body Boundaries program will be presented at Weston in the classrooms on November 21st. Social workers from Kids Talk, with expertise in the area of child abuse prevention, will present the program in our school. Trained mental health professionals will be on site at the school during the program to speak with any children who express safety concerns after the presentation. Per Indiana law, any disclosures of suspected child abuse and neglect must be reported to the Department of Child Services hotline. If you do not want your child to participate in Body Boundaries, you MUST complete an opt-out form. Please contact Terry Miller, Weston Social Worker, for a copy of this form. All opt-out forms must be returned to the school office by November 20, 2019.
9. The Toys for Tots collection box has been placed at the Weston office and will remain there until early December. If you are able, please consider donating a new and unwrapped toy to assist families in need this holiday season.
