Math Weekly Update
Week of 4/27-5/1
Math 7- Greenberg, Haddock, and Porter
Last week students worked with a lot of new vocabulary and identifying different types of angles. This week we are adding in finding the missing angles. Students will work with various activities (IXL, Khan,Quizizz, etc.) to practice.
Math 7- Slaughter
Last week students worked on Multi-Step Inequalities on IXL. This week students will continue reviewing content learned in the first semester; students will continue working on Probability on IXL.
Math 8- Greenberg
This past week we worked on writing comparison statements based on the rate of change they find for various representations. This week students will work with writing equations from two points.
Math 8- Hill & Hobold
Students will begin their study of Volume this week. Students will start with finding the volume of prisms and cylinders, and should expect exit slips every day for us to “check in” on their progress, except on Thursday, May 7th, when they have a Target Check.
Math 8- Taylor
Math 8th is covering Systems of Equations, Slope, Exponents, Scientific Notation, Functions, Equations, Pythagoras, Angles (2-Dimensional Shapes), Data and Graphs, and Statistics based upon the students learning profile in class. I have placed notes in Google Classroom for each unit for all students.
Algebra- Haddock & Porter
We are going to be starting Chapter 10:Radical Expressions and Equations. This week we are focusing on 10-1 which will cover the Pythagorean Theorem. Students will use the online textbook, Khan Academy, and IXL to practice skills. They will take a 10-1 formative on PearsonREalize.
Algebra- Hobold
We are going to continue our study of radical expressions and equations by focusing on rationalizing the denominator. Students should expect a quiz on Thursday, May 7th.
Algebra- Taylor
We are going to finish the Quadratics Unit next week and start a new unit called Radical Expressions. Some students will start the Rational Functions and Expression unit. I will place notes in Google Classroom for the new unit.
Geometry-Hill
We will do section 12-3, the surface area of a cone and a pyramid. We will quiz on Surface Area May 12.
