From the Counselor--Mrs. Faust
The December Counselor theme is Generosity. Generosity is the virtue of not being tied down by concerns about one's possessions. Generosity leads to charity and forgiveness. Please ask your child what this means to them.
School Supplies: If your child is running out of school supplies and you need assistance please contact me at Cottonwood 218-4620 ext. 2.
Parenting Tips for the Holiday Season: During the holiday season spend extra time with your child. Help them to truly understand the reason for the season. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the materialistic aspect that we forget to teach the kids the real meaning. Share stories of your childhood to teach them Holiday tradition.
It is easy to be Thankful for the good things. During the Holiday’s remember all the things that you have to be Thankful for.
· Be thankful that you don’t have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to.
· Be thankful when you don’t know….it gives you the opportunity to learn.
· Be thankful for the difficult times….during those times you grow.
· Be thankful for limitations….they give opportunities for improvement.
· Be thankful for a new challenge….it will build strength and character.
· Be thankful for mistakes…they will teach valuable lessons.
Banana Splits: If your child is participating in the banana splits group please visit with them about the group. Taking the time to contribute will really make the group successful. Please always feel free to call with questions or concerns about the group.
Holiday Help: If your family is in need of some holiday help please contact me. I have some resources that can provide a little help. faustm@usd385.org or 316-218-4620 ext. 2
Have a safe and Happy Holiday Season!!!
From the Nurse's Office--Mrs. Whiddon and Mrs. Tauke
This time of year is busy for colds and flu like viruses. Please remember school
Policy states students need to be fever free without medication for 24 hours before they come back to school. This policy is in place to keep cold and viruses from spreading.
The health office hands out peppermints on a daily basis for "stomach aches" and we could use some donations. Lifesaver brand (blue or green bag) and the red and white striped peppermints are popular.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

Cottonwood Fundraising
With the support of PTO and our generous Cottonwood families, we have been able to add iPads and computers, utilize BrainPop, add playground equipment and trees, as well as support for AR parties and school-wide assemblies (KC Wolf)
This year, we hope to add 3-5 more Chromebooks in each of our classrooms, which are about $300 each. We want our students prepared for middle school and beyond and we believe that creating, writing and communicating will serve our students needs. Here is a link for our Fundraising efforts for the year. Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or input.
