Week March 9-13
PARCC TESTING
Our first round of PARCC testing is here> We will be testing everyday next week beginning at 8:30. You can help your child do their best by assuring they have a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast. We will be surprising the kids with a hershey kiss, a piece of gum, smarties and a cookie to motivate them. We will be giving them one of these little treats each day so if you p[refer your child not eat these things, please email me and I will be sure they don't eat the small treats
PHYSICS OF SOUND in SCIENCE & IMMIGRATION in SOCIAL STUDIES
We will begin our unit on sound. Students will be doing many hands-on activities looking at sound discrimination, vibrations, pitch and volume.
We will also begin discussing immigration to the United States. Tell your child any stories you know about relatives from your family tree!
WAX MUSEUM PROJECT
Students should be done with their biography organizer and beginning to write their speech. They will be dressing as their person and talking about themselves during the Wax Museum on March 25th ( for other students) and March 26th for parents and visitors. I hope you can come visit our Wax Museum March 26th , 1:00-2:00!!
WALK THE WORLD
Students will be participating in WALK THE WORLD with the rest of the third grade class. We will wear pedometers and count our steps until MAY 1st. Our steps will help all that are participating reach the goal----enough steps to walk around the world!
Students can bring their own pedometer or use one from Gower. They must have a permission slip in order to receive a rental from Gower and are responsible for replacing any broken or lost pedometers for $8.
Should be lots of fun!
