Magnets
How they work
What is a magnet?
a piece of iron that has its component atoms so ordered that the material exhibits properties of magnetism, such as attracting other iron-containing objects or aligning itself in an external magnetic field.
What is a magnetic field?
It is a region around a magnetic material or a moving electric charge within which the force of magnetism acts.
What are magnetic forces?
Magnetic force is the attraction or repulsion that arises between electrically charged particles because of their motion; the basic force responsible for the action of electric motors and the attraction of magnets for iron.
Magnet use 1
A magnet can be used to pick up metal and other objects from a dump so that it doesn't get put in with the other stuff.
Magnet use 2
You can use a magnet to pick up metal objects that fall into tight places that you can't reach with your hands.
Magnet use 3
Clean up metal nails that have fallen in the grass.
