Our Learning
This week was short but PACKED with fun! We had two very special celebrations this week. On Tuesday, we celebrated Valentine's day! We had so much fun decorating cookies, eating snacks, and exchanging valentine's. We also had did a math addition activity with conversation hearts. This was such a fun way to practice our addition skills. We also read the story "The Day it Rained Hearts" by Felicia Bond. It was such a sweet story and the main character made special valentine's for her friends, just like we did. We also had a blast decorating our valentine bags.
On Wednesday, we celebrated the 100th day of school! All year we have been tracking the number of days and learning how numbers a structured using place value. During morning meeting, we bundled our 10 groups of 10 straw markers together to create one group of 100! We had a great time celebrating. We read the story "100 Snowmen" by Jen Arena. We got to see the addition sentences that added up to 100! Seeing all those snowmen on one page really helped us to understand how much 100 really is. Then we used some yummy snacks to build the number and used bingo daubers to dot in 100 gum balls in a machine. Finally, we celebrated by playing with balloons!
On Thursday we wrapped up the week with a fun writing activity. We answer the question, what would we do with $100! We each drew a picture of what we would buy and wrote about those things.
We also had so much fun this week playing out side in the more mild weather. It was beautiful!
