THE WATER FOOTPRINT OF A TOMATO
Every product has a water footprint, which is the amount of water used up in the process of its production. The utilized water is divided into three groups: the irrigation water (green), the natural water from rivers and lakes (blue) and the water polluted in the process (gray).
OUR EXAMPLE: A TOMATO'S WATER FOOTPRINT
Incredibly, it takes 50 liters of water to produce one tomato. Most of that water is used on its irrigation.
