Message from the Principal
As we head into winter break, we turn our attention to drilling down on academic and behavioral needs of our students. Academic feedback forms will be sent out next week to provide families with background on their child's needs. Teachers have selected specific goals and strategies to target these areas and we are tracking data to show the growth and progress of all children. We look forward to seeing results and sharing it with families. Please join us, November 21st at 8:00AM for coffee with the principal to highlight this data!
Have a great weekend!

RAKStars Program
We are excited to bring the RAKStars Program back at Byrom!
RAKStars (Random Acts of Kindness Stars was established at Byrom in 2017 as a way to create community among grade-level peers while being intentional about learning how acts of kindness can make a difference in our community and world.
RAKStar Teams are small groups of students from each grade level who will get together and do "RAKs" for the school, specific students, teachers, or the Tualatin community. These teams will meet with Mrs. Cummings (EBS Support person) during their lunch and lunch recess 1-2 times a week for 3 weeks. During this time they come together, eat lunch, build relationships, and work together to complete the random act of kindness of the week. At the end of the 3 weeks they will receive a certificate of participation and another group of students will have an opportunity to join the RAKStar team!
RAKStar Teams will begin November 27th, and continue through the end of the school year. If you have any questions about RAKStars, please email Sonja Cummings at SCummings@ttsd.k12.or.us.

School Cafeteria Update
As shared on all our menus, the menu is subject to change and determined by what products we are able to get from our vendors. We are currently experiencing the following challenges:
- There is a shortage of chocolate milk due to a manufacturing issue with the milk cartons.
- The cafeterias are also still experiencing some supply chain issues due to manufacturing shortages, and food industry transportation, and delivery challenges.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience, understanding, and partnership in nourishing our students.

TTSD Partnership with LifeStance Health
TTSD and LifeStance Health have partnered to improve student access to mental health services. The LifeStance Health School-Based Program is dedicated to providing quality therapeutic services to schools while removing barriers for students and families by placing therapists in district buildings. School-Based Therapists treat mental health conditions which can include depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, or substance use issues.
Services are billed through OHP and most insurance plans.
LifeStance Health serves all TTSD students K-12 out of two locations:
Tigard High School
Byrom Elementary/Tualatin High School
For more information, contact your student’s school counselor, visit the LifeStance School-Based webpage and fill out the referral form, or call LifeStance at 971-808-3643.

Volunteering
Volunteer process:
We are very fortunate to have wonderful community members and families that want to be part of our students' education by volunteering! With that comes the responsibility of making sure our schools and students are safe at all times.
Anyone seeking to be a volunteer for our schools and or buildings needs to be background checked and offered the vector training. If a community member and or parent wants to volunteer, they have to go through the volunteer process and be cleared before doing so.
Volunteers and after school events
The volunteer process must be followed if the person will be interacting with our students. Whether the volunteering will take place during school or after school, the parent/community member must undergo the volunteer requirements as outlined on our website. This includes all school and or PTO/PSO sponsored events.
Visitors and after school or PTO/PSO sponsored events
Visitors to these events do not need to be background checked and go through the volunteer process as they are not expected to have interaction with students. Adults that come as visitors to after school events are only expected to supervise the children/students that accompany them.
Covid Vaccine Cards are no longer required!
Cleared Volunteers - please contact byromvolunteer@gmail.com
