IB Update
Two weeks out from Spring Break and we here in the IB world wanted to catch everyone up on our recent trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. This opportunity was for our IB students so that they might engage meaningfully in both international-mindedness and the CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service) components of the Diploma Programme. The trip was a great success and the students and teachers who went loved the country, the activities, and the focus on sustainability. Some of the highlights from the trip included an urban farming and sustainable cooking class, an urban bee/honey experience, an upcycling fashion show, a linocut art class, a virtual reality experience, a bike tour through the city's green areas, the Copenhill sustainable power plant and tobogganing experience, time at the world-famous Tivoli Gardens Amusement Park and so much more.
The CAS Trip is an annual opportunity for students to have these experiences and is something that the TRHS International Baccalaureate Programme is committed to providing to students moving forward. Having the chance to see parts of the world these students might otherwise not get to experience, and doing so in a Creative, Active, and Service based learning capacity is truly amazing. We are already planning for next year's trip to either Ecuador or Peru, so stay tuned for more!!
Counselors' Corner
This past week in the counseling office, TRHS Counselors visited with 288 students to provide academic and social emotional support, as well as post secondary planning. As we near the end of the year, Counselors are particularly focused on identifying and supporting students who may be credit deficient, and creating plans for these students. Information on summer school will be forthcoming.
The testing season is upon us! Testing week starts April 12th. Parents and students can view the testing schedule here. If students/parents wish to opt out of a test, instructions can be found here. We strongly encourage juniors to take the SAT, as this will meet a graduation requirement. Our seniors are getting close to the finish line and we are so excited for them! Senior boards are coming up on April 12th. Students who have not turned their completed community service forms in to the counseling office need to do so no later than May 1st.

Mindful Minute: Good stress
This time of year tends to be more stressful for our students, especially our seniors, with senior boards, graduation requirements, college admissions, etc. It’s a lot of exciting stuff, but it can feel daunting. Students remember! Stress can be detrimental, but it can also fuel us, providing us with the energy to take on the tasks we need to. Stress can actually be… your friend. This video details the benefits of stress.
