From the Heart
Team,
It is time to cast your ballot! Please vote before March 6 at 3pm for your choice for CA Teacher and Paraprofessional of the Year. Yvonne Aguirre is not on the ballot because she was our Paraprofessional of the year last year. Paras are not eligible for one year.

The end of the 3rd 9 weeks is fast approaching! Let's make sure we are working with our struggling learners!
UIL One Act competes on Thursday! Thank you Julie and Kristinia! You have certainly shown your CA PERSEVERENCE!!!! :-)
One last reminder: Please enter grades every two or three days. Students need timely feedback and so do parents. THANK YOU!

Lauren's Learnings
A goal of mine moving forward is to provide more quantitative data rather than qualitative data, although both are extremely valuable.
Here is where we are:
88% (63/71) EL & Exit Monitored (not complete) students are failing one or more high school class.
86% (26/30) EL students are failing one or more high school class.
We have the amazing opportunity to be part of changing the trajectory of student's future. In order to do this, we have got to meet our kids where they are. Training, PLC, and support from our world language coaches are all great ways to inform us of strategies to improve student success. However, unless we intentionally incorporate those supports into our daily lesson plans, we will not be effective in serving our target population.
Thank you for all of your hard work the past few weeks during PLC toward developing strategies and lesson plans that support our ELs. Please be intentional in planning lessons that include appropriate accommodations and supports for ALL students.

2020 Census
In preparation for Statistics in Schools Week, March 2-6, it is important that all staff understand how the 2020 Census will be taken and why census data is important for schools. It is critical that everyone completes the census to provide an accurate representation of our community for federal funding implications.
Staff and Student Ipads - *Cyber Security Action Required*
Over the past few months notices have been sent out regarding the need to update staff and student iPads to OS level 13.1. Currently, there are 1,200 iPads that are below 12.4. Due to security issues, these iPads will be disabled on February 21, 2020. To ensure there is no disruption to instruction please check your iPad IOS version ( \follow the link for help).
HELP ARTICLE ON HOW TO UPDATE IOS
For elementary classrooms it's best to ask the students to follow the steps as well to be sure their iPads are updated.
