Principal Bodnar's Weekly Notes
Week Ending 4/12/2024
This Week At St. Ann
St. Ann has been busy this week. Where to start. Well first, we had started off the week on Monday with the total Solar Eclipse. From talking to students, teachers and staff, and community members, the Nashville area had a spectacular viewing of the eclipse. In Collinsville where I live, we did not see the corona of the eclipse, but the view was pretty amazing.
Tuesday, our 5th-8th grade went to Springfield, Illinois to finish learning about the government after having completed the State of Illinois and the federal Constitutions tests. Students, their teachers, and several family members toured Lincoln's home, the Capital Building, the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and Lincoln's tomb. The group left early in the morning and got back in the early evening. A big thank you to Mrs. Holzhauer for setting up the trip.
Wednesday the entire building left St. Ann and traveled to the Missouri Botanical Gardens for an educational presentation and a visit to the gardens. Although it was a bit rainy, everyone seemed to enjoy the trip. The group then headed over to Tower Grove Park for a picnic lunch. Afterward, the group made it back to St. Ann just in time for dismissal. A special thank you to Mrs. Gaubatz for putting the trip together, but I want to thank all the teachers, staff, and parents that went to help chaperon the trip. Without each of you, this trip would not have been the success that it was.
Thursday and Friday this week have been academic days, although many of our students and teachers are a bit tired and looking forward to the weekend for some rest.
On this Sunday, St. Ann will have 1of our students, Addy Wilke making her First Communion here at St. Ann. We will also have Bentlee Zyk making his at St. Charles, DuBois. Next Sunday, Florence Gill will make hers at OLPH and on May 5th, Ella Kauling will make hers at St. Mary's in Carlyle.

Preschool
Although St. Ann Catholic School will close at the end of this school year, the Preschool program will remain open. Cost for Preschool next year will be $3200 for 5 days a week and $2600 for 3 days a week for the school year. The first day of Preschool will be August 12th, 2024 and the last day is to be determined but will be before the May Memorial Day holiday. Hours will be 8am till 3pm and the After School Program will be available from 3pm till 5pm for an additional fee.
Scrip
Since we will be working at closing down St. Ann over the next several months, we will not be ordering any Scrip. We have a ton of scrip on hand if you are interested in any, and you can still order it yourself on line.
Scrip is an easy way for families to make money for St. Ann and help pay your tuition. You may ask, "What is Scrip?", well scrip is basically gift cards for local and name brand stores and restaurants that you go to everyday. Instead of paying with cash or credit card, you purchase the gift cards from St. Ann and use these gift cards to pay for your purchase. This fundraiser costs nothing to you other than a few minutes of your time ordering, sending in the money, and picking up your gift cards. We carry a full line of local and most big box stores including Amazon here at school or you can go to raiseright.com and enter the St. Ann school code of 74D1Cl931431. Once logged in to the school account, you can order straight from the website and it will ship to us for pickup. Again, it's an easy and fast fundraiser for the school that takes no effort or cost for anything else to you, and 1/2 of the rebate we get for you buying the Scrip, goes to pay your tuition balance
Mr. Bodnar's Thoughts
Hello St. Ann Family,
The school year is moving fast. We have 5 weeks of school left, that is only 25 days of school. I still don't know where the year has gone. The rest of this semester will be academic except for those few special events I have listed above. Our teachers and students are working hard on writing papers and do research and other projects.
As we move to the end of the school, be assured that we are continuing to educate our students so they are ready for wherever they end up next year, and be successful wherever they go. All of our staff have places to go next year also. We will be working hard as always, to finish this last year on the highest note we can.
Please tell your friends that our Preschool is still open. Currently we have 13 students signed up and we have room for more. I have talked to several new parents that are coming to St. Ann Preschool because of the reputation that has been built over the years. We will also still have ASP for those that need the extended care.
Looking forward to the weekend, it looks like it will be dry and warm, highs in the 80's. I hope you will be able to enjoy the weather.
