Maynard Public Library
The Maynard Public Library is developing a new strategic plan to guide our work for the next five years. Broad community input is essential to this plan, and we're inviting people to participate in a survey to give voice to their hopes, needs, and opinions concerning the library and the role it plays in the town.
Our general survey is available online here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/maylib. And we have a teen-specific survey available here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/mayteen.
The attached flyer includes information for both the general and teen surveys, including QR codes and links for both.
Playground
A grant was written by one of our teachers, Sam Mazeika, to the Doug Flutie Foundation for a communication board for our playground at Green Meadow. The grant was accepted and Green Meadow is now featuring a new communication board.
Here is some information about the board which was featured on the Doug Flutie Foundation website:
"Play is a critical part of children’s development. Individuals with autism and other developmental delays commonly experience social deficits, which inhibit their ability to communicate effectively with others. Visual aids support a wide range of learners, including verbal, neuro-typical peers and promote inclusion of people with differing abilities. These communication boards will support individuals in initiating conversations with peers, navigating social situations, and expressing themselves."
Thank you, Ms. Mazeika for making our playground more accessible to our students!

Purple Pinkie Day
"Purple Pinkie Day raises funds and awareness for Rotary's polio prevention projects. PPD is traditionally held on October 24th. Rotarians work with schools to collect $1 per student, which pays to have a child vaccinated in a developing country."
Green Meadow raised over $260.00 towards Purple Pinkie Day. Thank you so much for your contributions!
