Dragon Arrival - Help Requested
Dragon Dismissal Updates
In an effort to make Dragon pick-up more efficient, we will begin a slight change to our dismissal system beginning on Monday, December 2. From a parent perspective, nothing for you in the pick up line will change. All of the changes will be made in the building and we will be reviewing this with all of our students. In the days leading up to Thanksgiving vacation, parent volunteers will be going around to classrooms and attaching your family's dragon pick up number to your child's backpack. For safety reasons these tags will NOT included your child's name.
What are we asking from you?
- Please remind your child that this tag is to remain on their bag and visible for the duration of the school year.
- Please teach your child their pick up number and remind them that we will no longer be calling names for pick-up, just numbers.
- Please continue to display your pick up number in an easy to read place in your vehicle.
This new "numbers only" system will allow us to collect and call more numbers from the parking lot. By calling and posting numbers only, we believe will be able to communicate your arrival and have your child to the parking lot in a much more timely fashion, thus speeding up the pick-up process. Please continue in the weeks ahead to remind and reiterate to your child the importance of not only memorizing their number but for listening for it to be called.
Thank you for continued support as we continue to improve and streamline our dismissal process.

Parent Teacher Conferences - Online Scheduling to Open 11/18
Parent/Teacher conferences are approaching on December 12, 2019 from 12:15 to 8:15 p.m. This time is an important opportunity to talk with your learner’s teacher to discuss the progress that your child has made thus far this school year and to share your perspective with us for the year. Conferences are a two-way conversation and your insights with regard to your child’s strengths and needs, learning style, and other non-school learning opportunities can help us to shape our instruction. Should you have an extenuating circumstance that prevents you from attending conferences on December 12, please connect with your learner’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress thus far at an alternate time. These conversations are such an important part of being an involved parent and we want to make sure that we are able to have them with each learner’s family.
We will be scheduling conferences online again this year through Family Access. Online scheduling will open Monday, 11/18/19 and stay open through Friday, 12/6/19. If you do not have a Family Access account, please contact the Family Access hotline at 248-956-2190 or email FamilyAccess@wlcsd.org. Be sure to include your name, the name of each child in the district, your email address and a daytime phone number. A video of how to schedule your conference time can be found HERE. If you need any assistance with this process and/or an interpreter for your conference time, please contact your child’s teacher. If you need support accessing the internet, please contact our main office (248.956.2000).

Second Step Lessons
Parents, this week your children focused on the second step lesson below. Please take a moment to talk with your children about how they took time to show positive behavior at school.
Identifying Feelings
We’re all learning to identify our own and others’ feelings. We can focus our attention on someone’s face or body and on the situation for clues about how the person is feeling. Sometimes people’s voices and the words they say also give us clues. If someone is yelling, it might be that this person is angry. If a person is using a very quiet voice, it might be that the person is scared or worried. This week, listen to people’s voices for clues to figure out how they might be feeling!
Our focus for next week is listed below. We will review the following with your children when they return to school on Monday.
Same and Different Feelings
We all want to have friends here at Keith Elementary School. But people can have similar or different feeling about the same situation. For example, I might feel scared to climb up high, and my friend might feel excited. Learning to respect other people’s feeling can help us make and keep friends! This week, listen to people’s voices for clues to figure out how they might be feeling!

Please complete the attached form and turn in money and order forms to the main office at Keith. Your children may also give their money and order forms to their teacher, and the teacher can be sure it gets turned in to the PTA.
