what impacts does biotechnology have on us?
What is the role of DNA in biotechnology and how is biotechnology used in DNA testing?
DNA is being used for the stepping stone into the word of biotechnology, from changing genes and recombining different DNA. The biggest way biotechnology is being used is by criminal investigations to match DNA from a crime scene to a suspect. Another use is to establish paternity in question of who the dad is. Possibly the most helpful way biotechnology is being used is to fight diseases that was never
how is biotechnology used in the health industry in making medicine like penicillin and insulin.
The first genetically engineered products were medicines designed to treat disease that plague humans. Genentech developed synthetic humanized insulin by joining its gene with a plasmid vector inserted into the bacterium Escherichia coli. Insulin, widely used for the treatment of diabetes, resulting in lifesaving medicine at a low cost.
How is biotechnology used in agriculture?
We use biotechnology to modify crops and use that to solve many hunger problems throughout the world by just changing a little bit about the crop, like making it weather resistant to make it pest resistant.
How is biotechnology used in environmental cleanup?
Biotechnology is used when a environmental disaster occurs and the life of all of the organisms are in danger. For example, a oil spill has occurred in a ecosystem what do we do? We know some of the microorganisms would die, while others capable of eating the oil spill, What biotechnology uses is that it provides fertilizer, oxygen, and other conditions to make growth go faster therefor speeding up the cleanup.
What are the negative effects of biotechnology?
There are lots of possible negative effects in the agriculture industry with the handling of chemical spraying on our food by workers in hazmat suits. "documented studies suggest GMO consumption causes serious health issues including damage to the kidney, liver and spleen, digestive and gastrointestinal dysfunction, toxicity, allergies, reproductive issues and adverse affects on cholesterol synthesis and insulin regulation to name a few.". We need more control of food that could kill us and we may not even know what we are really eating anymore.
What does a career in bio-med do?
while working in bio-med, you could be in a lab trying to find a cure with for a disease that destroys a whole country by just changing a little something in the genetics. You could save a child from having to deal with a horrific disease by just "turning off" the gene of the disease. A career in bio-med is the type of career that changes peoples lives in many ways.
What is NC national ranking in biotechnology.
Carolina is 4th place in biotechnology Pennsylvania at 5 and Maryland at 3rd, Massachusetts at 2nd and California at the number one spot.
Here this map shows all of the research centers that are being used in biotechnology.
There is over 60 research centers!
Biotechnology has a bright future.
Soon many parts of our live will be consumed by biotechnology in the nearby future
