ALL HANDS ON DECK
HS STAFF NEWS | August 24, 2018
FROM THE DESK OF CHAD SAYRE:
Staff,
As our year starts, I want to make sure that we are all on the same page with expectations about leaving PCHS during school hours. If you will be leaving PCHS, please make sure you are filling out the Out of Building Form located on the PCHS Home Doc, this will help us when and if there is an emergency, knowing what staff is out of the building.
Also, if you will be out longer than 2 hours, this includes your plan time, in addition to filling out the form, please verbally notify Bobbie.
Team Platte County and the District have implemented pay for coverage of classes, below are the guidelines for this:
Payment for coverage would be approved for the following reasons:
· Coverage for coach who has to leave class early for an event
· Coverage for teacher when a substitute can’t be secured
Payment would not be approved for the following reasons:
· A teacher left early due to a personal reason under the two-hour leave provision under Board Policy GCBDA. Coverage would be handled internally without payment, as long as it is approved by administration.
· Classes broken up and divided among multiple teachers will not be approved for payment.
If you are covering a class, and clocking the hours in Time Clock Plus, please make sure you document in the note section the class and the hour you are covering (i.e. Sayre 6th hour) and notify Bobbie so we can assure payment.

PIRATES R.O.C.K. KICKOFF!
Pirates R.O.C.K. Kick-Off - August 31, 2018
Pirates R.O.C.K. (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) is a program designed to surround our families with examples of strong character traits through school experiences, at home, and reinforced in their community. Each month our community focuses on a specific character trait and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits: Self Confidence, Pride, Citizenship, Compassion, Individuality, Self Control, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, Honesty, and Cooperation.
On Friday, August 31, we kick off our 13th year of the Pirates R.O.C.K. character education program! To celebrate, wear your orange and black on Friday, join the community from 5-7pm at Price Chopper in Platte City for a community tailgate, and enjoy free popcorn at the first home football game!

92 SHOWDOWN - Two Teams One Cause
Kearney High School and Platte County High School are teaming up again for the “Highway 92 Showdown” on Friday, Sept 7 to support The Ronald McDonald House. Game start time is 7:00 p.m. and the winner will take home the traveling trophy – a replica Highway92 sign.
The schools will be selling Highway 92 Showdown T-shirts with any profit from the sales being donated to an organization of the host school’s choice. This year Kearney High School has chosen The Ronald McDonald House.
Please help support KHS and PCHS as we use our competitive game setting to also support a great cause. You can purchase your Highway 92 Showdown shirt online until midnight on August 30, at the game and during high school lunch sessions for $10. During halftime, students and staff will present funds raised to members of The Ronald McDonald House.
