No School- April 1
Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break! I look forward to welcoming back all our students tomorrow morning:)
Per my previous message:
This is a reminder to families that if you are dropping your child off at school via car, you should be using the car loop in the front of the school. The loop on the side of the building is reserved for buses, PEP parents, and staff. There has been an uptick of families bypassing the car loop and using the loop on the side of the building. Your child's safety is our number one priority so please adhere to the specific structures we have established to ensure the safety of students. Your support is appreciated:)
-Mr. Burns
Game Changer Conference
Calling all parents/caregivers of young male students Grades 4-12! Register your student for the Spring 2024 Game Changer conference and help empower and ignite their path to success. The conference will be held on Saturday April 20, at the Universities at Shady Grove, 8 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Transportation may be available through MCPS from your area. Registration closes Wednesday, April 3. Spaces are limited.
This year's spring conference theme encourages students to see themselves as competitors in life's big game, where trying hard, being smart, and playing well lead to winning their dreams.
Some of the conference sessions include life skills stations, panel conversations, a STEM exposure experience and a parent advocacy academy roundtable.
To foster academic excellence, the conference will also host a student essay competition. Participants are encouraged to submit a 300-word essay answering the essay theme question: “Being a Competitor is a Game Changer: How will you Compete to Win and Own your Future?” Essay submissions are due by Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at GC Essay Contest Submission. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each age division.
The Universities at Shady Grove is located at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville.

From the PTA Board
Dear Families,
Welcome back, Wildcats!
We hope you had a wonderful and restful spring break! My family took a get-away back in February, so we had a pretty low-key “staycation” this past week. I needed that time to recharge a bit more than I realized and now I feel ready to take on the rest of the school year!
We aren’t done yet - there are still a lot of activities remaining this school year and we need your help to finish strong. Please read through this entire message, as well as upcoming Sunday messages, where we will share all the different ways you can still get involved.
Please join us TOMORROW EVENING (Tues. 4/2) for our April PTA Meeting at 6:30 in the Wims Media Center. There are only 3 meetings remaining and it’s never too late to join us for the first time. In-person attendance is always preferred, as it’s easier to connect with you, but if you are unable to join us in person, we do offer Zoom participation. You can join using Meeting ID: 835 3354 8159; Passcode: 031364 or by clicking this link. The full invitation appears below.
Remember that registration is OPEN for spring after-school programming! Please see below for more information. There are several spots remaining for each of the spring offerings. We are pleased to welcome back some favorites.
Have a Wonderful Wildcat Week!
