7TH GRADE SCHEDULING FOR 24-25
Attention 6th grade families! We are gearing up for 7th grade scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year. Today, Friday, March 1st, 6th grade students received a purple scheduling form from their A60 teacher. Please review and complete this form with your student. This scheduling form is due back to your students A60 teacher by Thursday, March 7th. The middle school counselors will be visiting classrooms on March 12th and 13th to give a presentation and assist students with final scheduling.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT INTERNET SAFETY, SOCIAL MEDIA USE, CYBERBULLYING
Over the past few years, we have had our School Resource Officer come talk with our students regarding online safety. Detective Julie Warren is one of Novi’s school resource officers who works mostly with the elementary and middle school buildings. She is housed at the middle school so she will be a familiar face for students when they move to Novi Middle School. These presentations have been a great opportunity for students to meet Detective Warren and begin to build a positive and trusting relationship.
For the online safety presentations, topics covered include internet safety and risks, social media use, cyberbullying, and knowing the impact of our digital footprint. Detective Julie Warren presented to some of our 5th grade students on Thursday, February 15th and Friday, February 16th. Detective Warren will be presenting to our 6th grade students on Thursday, February 29th and Friday, March 1st.
Please ask your child what they learned during this informative presentation! Below are recommended resources and tips for parents to explore regarding online safety. We have been impressed with the students’ prior knowledge thus far! Thank you, parents and guardians, for having these conversations with your students!

LOCKED IN THE LIBRARY
Join us on Friday, March 1st from 6:30-8:30 at the Novi Public Library for our second-ever Locked in the Library event. The Novi Public Library will be closed to the public and only open to Novi Meadows students. We ask that only Novi Meadows students and parents attend the event (this is due to capacity restrictions). This is NOT a drop-off event.
Locked in the Library will include :
- A self-directed scavenger hunt (directions will be provided when you arrive)
- A chance to win one of 4 raffle baskets provided by the library
- Library card registration and replacement of lost cards, at no charge and with parent present
- After-hours library material check-out
- Snacks for students, provided by the PTO
- A Library Cafe special (and proudly serving Starbucks coffee)
- An opportunity to hang out with Meadows friends outside of school and for parents to meet each other!
RAMADAN
Ramadan starts soon for our Muslim friends at Novi Meadows. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a month of fasting, prayer, giving, and self-evaluation observed by Muslims. Muslims don’t eat or drink anything during the hours of daylight during Ramadan. This is called fasting.
Ramadan begins the evening of March 10th this year, so some students may be fasting during school hours. If your child observes fasting during Ramadan and would prefer not to be in the cafeteria during lunch, please reach out to your child’s counselor and we can meet with them to discuss an alternative space.

GO FOR THE GREEN REVERSE RAFFLE
On Saturday, March 9, 2024 the Novi Educational Foundation (NEF) and Feldman Automotive Group will host Go For The Green Reverse Raffle at Lyon Oaks Golf Club.
What is a Reverse Raffle? A Reverse Raffle starts as a traditional raffle where patrons purchase tickets. Things get interesting when the drawings start. All of the "losing tickets" are drawn first. Tickets are drawn throughout the night until the last one left is for the grand prize which is $5,000*. Additional prizes will be awarded on random drawings.
The evening will include the raffle, cash bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres, silent auction items and a DJ for dancing.
Money raised will support the NEF's mission to enrich the educational experience of all Novi students by supporting opportunities that require financial resources beyond what is possible with public funding. We do this through Classroom Grants, Fellowship Grants, Scholarships and supporting district programs such as outdoor learning and therapy dogs.
Tickets are on sale now! Only 200 available!!
We hope to see you there!
