Eli Whittney created the cotton gin. The cotton gin separates seeds from raw cotton. The cotton gin sped up the time instead of using your hands. It increased the number of slaves and it boosted the economy. James Watt made the stem engine. The steam engine made it easier in transportation. Elias Howe made the sewing machine. The sewing machine was used to stitch fabric and other materials with thread. The sewing machine made more clothing and was cheaper.
During the industrial revolution there was child labor. Child labor is when children are in a business/ industry especially when it was illegal. Addie is an example of child labor, Addie was in the mill since she was 8 years old. She also didn't have any shoes on. Addie had a 3 year old cousin and she died because she was playing with matches. Addie and her sister, Anna lived with their grandma because their mom died when Addie was 2 years old. Addie got married at age 17 to Ernest then got got in a divorce. A little later she got remarried to Edward, she met Edward at the industry.
The assembly line is like a series of workers with machines in factories. The assembly line is when workers use a common method to assemble many things. They can assemble cars, transportation equipment, household appliances, and electronic goods. The assembly line is when Henry Ford installs the first moving assembly line for the mass production for an entire automobile.
