Strand Spotlights and Info:
Dear Voyager Families,
We enjoyed our different but delightful drive-up promotion for our 5th graders on Thursday! Families, thank you for bringing your festive energy and support! Congratulations to our newly minted 6th graders!
Thank you for persevering with us through an unexpected end of our school year. Despite closures and distance learning, we have much to celebrate and appreciate and we thank you for being supportive members of an amazing school community.
Voyagers, have an amazing, healthy, and safe summer!
- We are still providing meals for pickup on Mondays through June 29! Hope to see you at SSES tomorrow beginning at 11 AM!
- We still have many student materials and artwork for pickup in the office. Visit us between 9 AM and 2 PM daily to retrieve your items.
- Please register ASAP for School Year 2020-21 unless you are SURE your child will not be returning. We want to count you in, and plan for an amazing year of learning! Registration information is here: https://strand.coronadousd.net/…/silver-strand-registratio…/
Online registration is required for all returning and new CUSD students. Parents of returning and new students need to complete online registration by June 15th. The attached flyer provides registration instructions and links to view and download required registration documents. New this Year - Parents are now able to upload required documents while registering online. Parents of returning students are strongly encouraged to upload documents and by doing so will no longer be required to attend a registration completion day in August. Parents of new students are also encouraged to upload required documents but will still be required to attend a registration complete day in August by appointment only.
Ms. Moore will continue to stay in touch with families throughout the summer via our website, intermittent family newsletters, and Facebook. We look forward to updating you on our plans for next school year; your district and site leaders are collaborating all summer to support safe reopening of schools in a structure as yet to be determined!

PREVENTING THE SUMMER SLIDE – COVID-19 CHALLENGES WEBINAR
Wednesday, June 3, 2020, 9-10 am
Research shows children’s reading skills can regress, on average, by 25% in the summer. Math skills also suffer during this break in learning. With the significant changes in learning environments due to COVID-19, greater declines in learning retention are expected. Recovery periods in the new school year are likely to be longer as well. The Military Child Education Coalition webinar is hosting an interactive webinar to uncover ways parents can engage their children in educational activities during the summer without them even noticing they are doing it. Let’s help reduce the “summer slide” in learning losses!
