PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Darby Families!
It was a great week back at Darby Middle School! During 3rd period advisory class students spent time making new goals for 2022. Through guided activities they identified specific action steps that would help them meet their goals. After all, a goal without an action plan is just a daydream! I am looking forward to watching our students meet their goals in the New Year.
This upcoming week our 6th and 7th grade students will meet with our school counselors to choose their elective courses for next school year. Course selection sheets will be emailed to parents this week. Please talk to your student about their course choices before they meet with their counselor (6th grade on Wednesday and 7th grade on Friday).
The FSPS 2021 Annual Report to the Public is linked below. There are some great pictures and articles from our school! The report has the Darby Health Center highlighted on pages 6-7, the Darby construction project is pictured on page 14, and there is a great article about our Health Sciences Academy on page 15. Check it out!

Discuss the financial facts of life without a diploma
Is your teen tired of school? Think there is no need to get a formal education? Offer some financial facts. Failing to get a high school diploma almost guarantees him a life of just scraping by. People without a diploma have a harder time finding jobs. And the jobs that are available to them typically pay the lowest wages. That means affording rent or a car payment, but probably not both.
