Auction Helpers
There are so many helpful hands on campus these days as parents, children, and teachers join together to help create the magical class projects for our Spring Auction, next Saturday at the Ashland Springs Hotel in downtown Ashland. Thank you to all that are helping and we hope to see you there!
Dear Siskiyou School Parents,
What weather! Today the campus is drenched in water and the children, never discouraged by the weather, are still playing in the rain and enjoying their day at school.
Thank you for your patience with the snow day on Friday and the late start yesterday; I always think of you, parents, how hard it must be to juggle your work schedules with the school schedule.
We got to see the 4th grade play today, “Thor Triumphant”. The class was wonderful and each child so engaged and invested in the production. The parents created such a beautiful set and the costumes were stunning! Well done, 4th grade, and a big thank you to Eve Smyth, Melissa Archer and Mr. Criswell!
There is a lot going on here at our school over the next few weeks:
Main Lesson Tour: Please join us this week for the monthly main lesson tour on Thursday at 8:30am. It’s always inspiring to see the teachers in action with their classes.
8th Grade Projects: Please view the schedule in the office section below. Every year we are so impressed by what the 8th grade students achieve and accomplish! The presentations always shows how ready and prepared they are to move on into their high school years.
Auction: We hope everyone can join the party! We are so excited to see our whole community joining together at the Ashland Springs Hotel; see the weekly Auction News for details and don’t forget to purchase your tickets! See you there!!!
Re-Enrollment Packets: We hope that all children will return for the 2024-25 school year! The office will send the packets home with the children around March 15th. You will also receive the forms online through an email and they will be accessible on our website as well.
Lastly, I hope everyone saw the announcement letter I sent out last week. I just wanted to clarify that very likely I will be finishing the school year in this position; so there will be many more moments of possible connections through the last months of the school year.
Thank you for all you do for your children!
Many blessings on our school, Aurilia

RAIN GEAR PLEASE
Parents, please send your children to school in weather appropriate clothing. Layers are great! We do spend as much time outdoors as possible, but would rather they not come back INTO the classroom soaking and chilly. If they do not have a hat or hood, they may be asked to not play outdoors in the rain. Thank you!
8th Grade Project Presentations
We're excited to see 8th grade projects coming up on our school calendar. Next month, the Dragonfly Class will present their 8th grade capstone projects to the Siskiyou School Community. They are asked to describe what topic they chose to study for their project, what they learned over their apprenticeship, and to respond to questions from the live audience. Please note the dates above and plan to join us in Pine Hall.
We’re happy to be able to share our 8th grade project presentations with our wider community over Zoom. A link to join us online will be sent to all currently enrolled parents on Monday, March 11th. You are welcome to tune in and check out the work done by the Dragonfly Class this year, but please, for the safety of our students, do NOT post this link over social media.
8th Grade Project Presentations will also be recorded and available to view through a YouTube link.
Kindergarten Open House
Join us THIS FRIDAY March 8th at 2:00 for our Kindergarten Open House! Take a peek at the beautiful space (outside and inside!), chat with Ms. Caterina (our brilliant teacher), and enjoy a wonderful puppet show! Kindergarten enrollment for next year is well underway and we look forward to seeing you at this fun event.
Spring Break Camp Registration CLOSES March 15th!

1st and 6th Main Lesson Teachers
The Siskiyou School is looking for a 6th grade class teacher and a 1st grade class teacher for the school year 2024-2025. The current 5th grade, called the Raven Class, has had a teacher for their first five years and they are ready to welcome a new class teacher for the middle school years. Our forming first grade will welcome the graduates of our first year of Kindergarten as well as some new friends.
The class teacher is the main holder of a class. They teach their students main lesson and some of the core skills. They oversee their students’ academic progress, guide their social and emotional development, organize field trips, and keep in communication with parents through regular conferences and class meetings. Class teachers are the point person for their students, parents, other teachers and the administration for all matters regarding their class.
We require at least 2 years of teaching experience in the grades. A Waldorf Teacher certificate is also preferable, but we are also open to training a teacher or sending the candidate to Waldorf summer training.
If interested, please send a resume and cover letter to our administrator Aurilia McNamara at Aurilia.mcnamara@siskiyouschool.org. If you have additional questions, please call 541-690-7171. We look forward to hearing from you.
Forest Class - 7th Grade
After striking the set of Peter Pan, the Forest Class dived into the Italian Renaissance and unveiled for themselves how the circumstances of 15th Century Italy provided the fertile grounds for a seed of profound cultural and intellectual rebirth across Europe. Central to the pursuit of knowledge in this time was a questioning of medieval authority. “What can I know for myself?” “What can I know from my own experience to be true?” The class explored these questions through the lives of Renaissance artists and masters - da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael - as those same questions arise within their own lives.
We are now in a block of Physiology, and the children (ahem, “young adults”) learn through a physical lens the functioning and inner workings of the human body and basics of nutrition. The study honors their appetite for straight medical facts while also holding reverence and sense of wonder for the body’s seemingly hidden inner workings.
