The Northwood Elementary Connection
October 2021 Newsletter
From the Desk of Principal Miranda Roscoe
Hello-
It’s hard to believe that it has been almost a month that students have been in school. We are excited to have them in school five days a week. Thank you for sending them to us ready to learn, with their supplies and a positive attitude. I would like to take this time to remind parents to call the school office at (440) 284-8014 when your child is absent. When leaving a message be sure to include your child’s name, teacher and reason for absence.
Traffic and safety at arrival and dismissal continue to be a challenge at Northwood Campus. Please adhere to the established traffic pattern and utilize the car rider line unless you walk to the campus, or have an emergency situation. Please do not drop students off in the parking lot. It is much simpler for us to monitor students, if parents remain in their cars and adhere to the established traffic pattern. There is also a limited amount of space out front and we need all of the available space to line up classes. During inclement weather students will be dismissed from inside the building. You can expect an extended dismissal period when we have inclement weather.
I would like to congratulate our Northwood Elementary Safety Patrol and adviser Mrs. Grove on a job well done with helping to keep students safe during arrival and dismissal. Safety Patrol is off duty at 9:05 each morning and 3:20 in the afternoon.
Students are now able to purchase extra lunch items, as long as they have money in their account, or in their hands. We are not selling ice cream and other snacks at this time. Lunch is still complimentary for all students.
There is no school Friday, October 8th. It is NEOEA day.
Halloween classroom parties will take place Friday, October 29th during the afternoon. Students may wear a simple costume to school. Costumes must be school appropriate. Masks must remain in book bags until the classroom parties take place. Students are able to bring in pre-packaged treats for their class. There will be no visitors allowed in the building for classroom parties. Please contact the classroom teacher with any questions or concerns about Halloween classroom parties.
Sincerely,
Miranda Roscoe
