PARENTS: COME JOIN US FOR AN INFORMATIONAL ABC MEETING
One of the things we really want to work on at Smithville High School is connecting more with parents on the day to day school activities and not just our extra-curricular. Our focus to maintain high standards and excellence will include strong Attendance, strong Behavior, strong Credits, and strong Social-Emotional Support. (The ABC’S of success) We’d like to share how we are doing this and our data for completion of our first quarter. If you are interested in attending please RSVP so we can determine where this meeting should take place. The date we have set is Thursday, 11/17/22, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and we plan to meet in our cafeteria at this time. Please use this google form to RSVP.
All-State Choir
Based on auditions from September, several students were selected to participate in the All-District Choir clinic & concert this past Saturday. They gave an amazing concert under the direction of Dr. Maglione from William Jewell.
During the day, auditions were held to see who would be given All-State honors. Placing in the top 10 earns an Honorable Mention. Top 6 qualifies you as an alternate. Only the top 4 in each voice part are selected to the All-State Choir.
Congratulations to the following:
Sierra Quinn - soprano
Elise Cahill - soprano, alternate
Jonas Beckham - bass, honorable mention
Mason West - bass, honorable mention
Jonas Beckham
bass, honorable mention
Elise Cahill
soprano, alternate
Reminder from the Nurse
Students requiring early dismissal for doctor’s appointments, family reasons, etc. must have a
parent/guardian notify the office or send the student with a written note in order for the student to be issued a pass to leave school. Students who do not feel well during the day must see the nurse before leaving school or will be considered truant.
Students who participate in athletics or other extracurricular activities and leave during the school day for medical/ dental appointments must turn in a confirmation note from their medical provider when they return in order to be eligible to participate in their activity that evening. Students who have missed part of the day without a medical or other excusable event, will not be allowed to participate in their event/practice that evening.
