Brick Bridge
Learning is in Full Bloom
A Message From Our Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Brick Schools had a lot to celebrate during the third marking period! First, we are excited to share that our elementary students are becoming young authors! They have been using the Writer's Workshop model to publish their authentic pieces. Also in February, elementary students commemorated the 100th day of school and “Twosday”!
March was also a very busy month! We celebrated literacy, first through Read Across America Day, and then when our English Language Learners participated in an interactive "Book Tasting" event. We also promoted March as Disabilities Awareness Month by sponsoring a district-wide Spirit Week. Finally, we commemorated “Youth Arts Month” with our annual District Arts Festival; check out the video in the newsletter below to experience the excitement of this special, community-building event!
April’s highlights include some exciting initiatives. Mayor Ducey kicked off The Week of the Young Child (April 2) by visiting district preschools! This spring also marked the time for students to get outside and participate in numerous STEM and environmental programs and contests. For example, the elementary Excel students collaborated with BTHS AP Environmental Sci classes on experiments! Highlights of this field experience is captured in the video linked in the newsletter below.
I hope that you and your families enjoyed spring break. Our staff and students came back excited about the fourth marking period and all the exciting learning opportunities and year-end events that lie ahead!
Educationally yours,
Dr. Anderson
