Mrs. Eske's Team: Building Leaders
4th Grade Newsletter // Nov. 14-18, 2016
From the Desk of Mrs. Eske:
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Happy New Week, everyone!!
Here is our play-by-play for the next couple of weeks.
We have Fall Picture Retakes on Tuesday!!! Thursday marks the middle of 2nd Quarter!! Mid-quarter grade reports will be sent home the following Monday, November 21st.
We have a field trip on that Monday too. All fourth and fifth grade classes will be traveling to Missouri State University to attend the Children's Literature Festival.
This is an all day event and students will be eating lunch on campus. Students bringing their lunch will need to make sure they have their lunch packed in a paper sack and not their normal lunch box, and bring food items that will not spoil. There will be limited space available on buses, so thank you for your help with this. Permission slips for that event will be sent home tomorrow in your child's Monday folder. Permission slips need to be completed and turned in by Friday, Nov. 18th.
We will be out of school for Thanksgiving Break Nov. 23rd-27th. A newsletter will not be sent out on that week, as we only go to school for two days that week. So, I will send out an early, "Happy Thanksgiving" now!! Have a wonderful and relaxing time celebrating all of your greatest blessings!!
Thank you so MUCH for reading. Have a super, amazing week!
Mrs. Eske
Building LEADERS one subject at a time!!
Reading: Last week we did not have a chance to practice analyzing text structure. So this week we will try again!! We will read Thundercake and Princess and the Pizza and discuss the differences between first and third person. We did, however, recognize our amazing Veterans in each branch of the armed forces. Students wrote letters to veterans and made cards, thanking them for their service. We read books about the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard. We also made photo and video messages for specific family members. Check out our activities on Facebook by LIKING Mrs. Eske's Fourth Grade Class.
Writing: In writing, we will continue functional writing!
Math: We will review Chapter 4 and test on Tuesday! We will also begin taking one minute, multiplication timed tests, to become more fluent with our math facts.
Content: This week we will continue to study each of the topics of study below.
Describe the migrations of native Americans prior to 1800 and examine cultural interactions and conflicts among Native Americans, and Immigrants from Europe
Native Americans Differentiated Reading Passages & Questions
Read Aloud: Between Earth & Sky: Legends of Native American Sacred Places
