1. I have shared many of these resources with your students in their library course, but my sister and I put together this blog post to help with getting free access to books (digital and print) and includes a few uncommon ones. https://raisingrealreaders.com/where-to-access-free-books-for-kids-during-covid-19/ This post helps guide parents in creating time and space for reading at home right now or over the summer: https://raisingrealreaders.com/reading-during-the-covid-19-quarantine-now-is-the-time-to-raise-a-real-reader/
I know many of you are still doing a weekly newsletter, so it may be something you'd like to share.
2. I'm going to set up several Zoom sessions with (non-SpEd) RTI students, our aides, Kelsie, and Tina for next week. These sessions are meant to be encouraging and a time of connection, along with some reading. This will be the assignment for the RTI course next week. Please feel free to share in your newsletter. They are as follows:
Tuesday: 11:00- 3rd grade RTI, 11:30- 4th grade RTI
Thursday: 1:00- 3rd grade RTI, 1:30- 4th grade RTI
3. I am interested in opening up a Scholastic Book Club order for any classes that don't have teachers offering one. With 2,000 books currently checked out, I'm feeling the need to beef up our bonus point collection so I can replace books that aren't returned. If you are NOT going to do a Scholastic Book Club order with your class for the remainder of the year, please let me know and I'll advertise my code with your classes.
Draft Schedule 2020-2021
Our biggest challenge was to push math and reading before lunch. This makes an impact on our specials schedule slightly and will push Math Lab to later in the day, when we have traditionally had it before math class. We will work to find a solution that helps maximize Math Lab time in order to help close the achievement gap for those students.
