A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Happy New Year, Bronco Family! I hope everyone was able to rest and rejuvenate over the break. We are so excited to see what 2023 has in store for Burleson Elementary. The spring semester is gearing up to be great one. The students and staff have picked up right where they left off with learning and fun in the classrooms. Many activities are in the plans as well.
Thank you for allowing us to continue to be a part of your child’s life. The smiles of success are the best thing for an educator’s hearts. And, we get lots of smiles that warm our hearts daily.
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
Remember it’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

2ND GRADE
Just a few reminders for the week!
Just wanted to update y'all on some small changes this semester!
-We will have our spelling test this Friday.
- Instead of math fact quizzes we will now be testing on multiples (this week we will start with 2s and work our way up throughout the semester) this will help with multiplication later on!
-There will also occasionally be phonics work sent home to complete if it is not finished during class time.
-Starting next week we will begin going to school Monday-Thursday so our test day will change to Thursday.
Thank you!
Ms.Gonzales
¡Gracias! Sra.Gonzales
3RD GRADE
Hello 3rd grade readers,
It feels so good to be back to school! This week was a great week to kick off the new year. This week we reviewed some drama pieces and looked deeper into the structure of drama pieces. We identified the importance of different characters, setting, scenes, acts, and dialogue. We are only four months away from April, which means we are four months away from the STAAR test. Every day we review STAAR based questions through Lone Star Learning which allows time for practicing comprehension and high-level questions.
In phonics, we are reviewing contractions and how to identify and use different contractions in our writing. Starting next week, we will be taking our spelling tests on Thursdays due to the change in the 4-day school week. Homework will still go home daily and is expected to be returned to school the following day. By doing this homework, students are able to fully understand the weekly spelling of words and how to use them in complete sentences.
In writing/grammar, we are working with revising and editing passages by using our learned knowledge in grammar. This is a new tested skill that will be included in this year's STAAR. By using learned grammar skills, students will be able to become great writers and understand the important processes of becoming a great writer.
In social studies, we are continuing to learn what it means to be a good citizen and all of the important roles it takes to create a great community.
Remember...
- Starting next week, we will switch our 4-day school week to Mondays-Thursdays
- Spelling tests will be moved to Thursdays (excluding this week)
- Please be sure to read with your child for at least 20 minutes a night to ensure we reach our AR goals!
Thank you for all you do,
Temple Reinhart
Gracias por todo lo que hacen,
templo reinhart
Math/Science
· In math we are reviewing multiplication and getting ready to multiply 2-digit times 1-digit numbers.
· Please make sure your child is practicing their math fact cards at home each night
· Math fact tests will be on Friday.
· In science we have explored with Earth’s forces and how they change the land.
4TH GRADE
I hope you all had a great break! I am excited and ready to be back in a routine. A few reminders...
- We will have Friday's off of school now instead of Monday's. Please understand that having a four day week means we as educators have a LOT of information to cover each day. It is imperative your child is here receiving that content that cannot fully be made up. Attendance is crucial for their success in school.
- If things do come up, please let me and Mrs. Sandy know so we know everyone is okay!
- Please make sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes every single night. This is so important for their development as learners.
- Message me if you ever have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for all you do!
Jenna Wesley
4th & 5th Grade MATH
-We are wrapping up fractions in 4th grade and next week we will start working on graphs. The students will learn about dot plots, stem and leaf graphs and frequency tables. They will learn how to organize and create graphs and pull data from others already created to answer questions.
-In 5th grade, fractions are not over yet. They will learn to multiply and divide fractions, too, and not just add and subtract them. Fifth grade will go to geometry after fractions.
-Please have your student practice multiplication math facts every night for 10 to 20 minutes. It will make a world of a difference.
-Thank you for your support. Mrs. Gamez

- Spelling Test is next Wednesday, 01/11/2023
- Please READ, READ, READ with your child every night for at least 20 minutes! It is something I ask the students to do, and unfortunately we have been slacking on this.
- Report Cards come out this week! Be on the look out for those.
- We start coming to school Monday-Thursday starting next week!
As always, if your child will be out, please contact myself via Class Dojo or Mrs. Sandy in the office.

Esté atento a esos.
