HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 3 - 22 February 2019
FROM MARK
Dear Parents/Guardians
To Fiona and her Year Four Catherine Gang, thank you for entertaining us at today’s assembly. What a lovely way to start the day! Congratulations to our Merit Award recipients. Congratulations also to all our Year Six leaders who were named today. Leadership opportunities are plentiful at Holy Rosary and it is so pleasing to celebrate that, and the enthusiasm with which the opportunities are embraced.
Final reminder about the HRC Sundowner today at 4.30! Whether your oldest child is in Three-Year Old Kindy or your youngest is in Year Six, the Holy Rosary Community welcomes you all!
Also, the 60th anniversary of our parish is celebrated this weekend, with Sunday mass at 10 followed by morning tea. You are very welcome to both of these really important events.
Next week Mr D’Aloia’s Year Three Catherine strut their stuff! We hope to see you at their assembly, 8:55am Friday.
Have a wonderful weekend! I hope to see you at the festivities! Best wishes to Mr T. and everyone else swimming to Rottnest tomorrow!
Mark de Kluyver

HOLY ROSARY COMMUNITY NEWS
FAREWELL MRS ROSEMARY LEDGER
On Tuesday our staff enjoyed a morning tea with Rosemary Ledger, long time teacher and parent at Holy Rosary, who is retiring after nearly twenty-five years of service to our community. We thank Rosemary for all of her dedication, commitment to and love of our school.
HOLY ROSARY RUNNING CLUB
AFTER SCHOOL SPORT AT HOLY ROSARY - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
A parent has offered to start a running club at Holy Rosary with the aim of engaging students in running to build their strength and fitness, in a relaxed setting on the school oval. This will complement other activities they undertake including the school cross country, athletics and swimming carnivals.
The Running Club can start on Tuesday 26 February if there is interest from students.
Details are as follows:
Tuesdays: Meet on the oval at 7.45 am for warmup/ stretches, running 7.50 am to 8.15 am, drink and cool down. Students can get changed if needed and move to class for 8.30am.
Fridays: Meet on the oval at 3.05 pm, (get changed first if needed), have a drink and a light snack.
Start at 3.15 pm - warmup/stretches, running time 3.20 pm to 3.45 pm, drink and cool down.
Who can attend: Boys and girls from years 3 to 6 of any fitness level are all welcome. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join in or help during sessions.
If younger children want to join, this could be considered if their parent can accompany them during the sessions.
The objective of the running club: To encourage students to participate and have fun - they do not have to start out as expert runners, beginners are welcome. If we can engage students and build fitness as we go, we are achieving our purpose!
Attendance: Students can attend one or both sessions - for continuity and to maintain fitness it would be ideal for them to attend both sessions each week, however we understand this may not always be possible.
CLASS REPS – WE NEED YOU!
Class Reps play a vital role in our school community - supporting the teachers and bringing people together.
Please consider volunteering for this important role and speak with your child’s teacher if you are interested.
Role:
Support the class teacher.
Help new families to feel welcome.
Arrange social get-togethers.
Help to promote the community events and activities on offer.
If a family is in special need, offer pastoral care either through the parent network or by informing the school.
Maintain a class contact list
Manage class Facebook (if your year group has one)
