READING NEWS AND READ A THON:
We would like to thank all of the families who came out to our Reading and Math night. We had fun playing learning games and listening to stories by Mrs. Flanaghan and Mr. Flynn. We appreciate all of the donations given for students during the read-a-thon week. We had many minutes logged by each classroom building their flames on their classroom fires. Congratulations to our fifth graders who had the most minutes logged!
We are looking forward to the “One Book Three Schools” book reveal being held on April17th at the Enfield Public Library. There will be many activities and treats. We hope you can join us for another evening of family fun!

SAFETY FIRST: STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP:
First, a big thaank you to all caregivers for following our safety guidelines when dropping off and picking up students in the parking lot area.
Second, because safety is always first, we have reviewed our procedures and find that in most cases things are working very smoothly. A few reminders and simple changes you may want to note:
- One way traffic only
- Students will be called to vehicles by the staff to ensure monitoring adults see them safetly to the vehicle
- NO PASSING other vehicles for any reason on the left or right.
- New NO PASSING signs will be posted on the right, while adult monitors are stationed on the left.
- Children should enter the left (Diver's) side of the car whenever possible. This allows us to make sure the child is in the car before the car begins to move. Entering the vehicle on the passenger side limits our ability to ensure your child's safety.
- If you are asked to pull up, please stop at the cones or where directed. This will help students remain safe while walking to your vehicle.
- If you are asked to park, because your child has forgotten something, please understand that this allows them the time to get their item from the school, while allowing the flow of traffic to occur without the need of passing. A staff member will walk your child to your car if you are asked to park.
If at anytime you have a concern over the pick/drop off routines, please feel free to cotact me in the office.

NOTE FROM THE NURSE"
Please contact the school nurse, Jackie Rustic at (860) 763-7543 or at jrustic@enfieldschools.org with any health-related questions. Please notify the nurse as well with any specific health issues/concerns if you send the information to the classroom teacher. This includes new symptoms your child is experiencing, new health related concerns, and/or medication issues. No prescribed or OTC medications can be sent into school with student/backpack. They must be dropped off by a parent/guardian and a physician’s order must be provided to be administered in the nurse’s office. This includes cough drops. If you give your child permission to have cough drops in school, they need to be dropped off by parents with a note from the parent giving your child permission to have the cough drop in the nurse’s office only. Please provide your child with a reusable water bottle each day. Students are not allowed to drink from water fountains around the school, but they may fill their water bottle at them. We encourage our students to drink water throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water helps alleviate many complaints of headaches, stomachaches, and sore throats. Breakfast remains free and available to any student. Please remember to provide your child with a snack each day. Every classroom has a special time for snack daily. It is also recommended that a change of clothes be packed in your child’s backpack just in case of any type of spill/accident that may require a change of clothing.
As of March 1st, the CDC has updated their guidance regarding respiratory viruses including COVID-19. The updated guidance states that if an individual is sick with a respiratory illness (such as COVID, flu, RSV, etc.), they should stay home while ill and may return to normal activities when symptoms are improving overall for at least 24 hours and/or they have been fever free for 24 hours without using feverreducing medication. Once they return to normal activities/school, they are encouraged to take added precautions such as masking (not mandatory), distancing, and continued monitoring of symptoms to help prevent the spread of illnesses. Please contact the school nurse with any questions.
