News from Mrs. Diggs
Dear Providence Parents,
Patriot Families – It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up our final weeks (2 to be exact) of our school year. This year, our students, staff and entire Patriot Learning Community have accomplished a great deal together! This final six weeks, our students and staff have been focusing on finishing STRONG. We’ve utilized our Patriot Focus Book, Stuck by Oliver Jeffers, to encourage problem solving, goal-setting and perseverance. Our Patriots have been rising to the challenge this six weeks as they have been engaging in learning tasks which have required perseverance. We encourage you to find opportunities to discuss with your students their specific learning goals and ways that they are persevering to ensure they do not get “stuck.” As we begin to reflect upon summer plans, please encourage your students to read daily for a minimum of 20 minutes and to continue to practice basic math facts daily for the same amount of time to prevent the “Summer Slide.” Our fabulous PTA in partnership with an anonymous donor have collaborated to provide every Patriot student with a free book to promote reading over the summer. We are truly grateful for a community that bands together to support our student learners.
Speaking of Patriot Pride, we are looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of each of our Patriot Learners next week. Please be sure to check our schedule of upcoming events as we have quite the event calendar next week. Parents are invited to join us for Field Day on Monday, May 21st as we cheer on our Patriots. Our awards assemblies will take place on Tuesday, May 22nd and Wednesday, May 23rd. So be sure to review the awards schedule as we will be celebrating all of our Patriots next week. Don’t forget that we have Early Dismissals taking place on both Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th at 12:00.
Words cannot express how blessed I have been to be able to serve your students alongside such a phenomenal group of Patriot Leaders. This year, we have grown not only as a learning community but as a Patriot Family. I am truly blessed to be able to serve our students, staff, and our Providence community. If I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me by calling the school at 940-369-1900 or via email at jdiggs@dentonisd.org.
With Patriot Pride,
Jairia Diggs, M.Ed.

2018 PTA Reflections Information
Did you know that our school will be participating in the Reflections art program again next year? Summer break is a great time for students to reflect on the theme and decide what it means to them, how to apply it to art, and to create an amazing piece of art to enter next year! The theme will be "Heroes Around Me." Students may want to focus on the following questions to help get their creativity flowing:
What does "Heroes Around Me Mean?"
Are they family members or friends? Are they teachers? Are they police officers or service members? Are they doctors or nurses? Are they book characters or action figures? Who or what are the heroes around you?
