Student-Led Home Performance Conferences are Here! Oct. 29-Nov. 5, 2015
For years, especially in grades K-8, parent-teacher conferences have been the primary means of school to home communication. But now, many schools are putting student-led conferences into action. This development shifts some of the responsibility onto the student to not only discuss the "what" with the adults in their lives, but also the "how" and "why".
Over the past twenty years, we have experienced a revolution in our understanding about how to communicate student learning in ways that support their learning. Among the most powerful options, we now understand, are students telling the story of their own growth while they're learning, and students reporting to others about their achievement status with evidence to back up their claims.
Please set aside some time during the window of Oct. 29-November 4 to sit down with your student. They have prepared a packet with some work samples and guidelines for you to sign off on- these are due to Ms. Lynch by no later than Thursday November 5, 2015.
Class of 2019 Fundraising Event!!! Future Business Leaders of America needs us!
Dear 2019 Students and Parents,
The Class of 2019 has another fundraising opportunity! We have been given the "green light" to sell our leftover snacks (which many of you donated for Homecoming) at the BHS Holiday/Craft Fair. The FBLA puts on a very professional, well-attended event. We will set up along with their concession stand in the lobby of the high school.
The Holiday Fair is Saturday, November 7 from 9am until 3pm. We need students and/or parents to staff a table throughout the day until we sell out. We would like to have 2 people per shift, one to handle the money and one for sales. If you would like to sign up for a shift, please let us know.
Shift Time Slots:
8:30-10:30am (including set-up)
10:30-12:30
12:30-2:30
2:30-3:30 (including clean-up)
Thanking you in advance for your time,
S. Hampton and K. Hamilton

Freshmen Participate in Off-Campus College Visitis
UNH with Mrs. Amy Burke: Ocean Discovery Day - Oct. 16th
UNH - School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering opened their doors to students from around the state to explore career, talk with scientists, operate an ROV in deep water tank, learn about ocean mapping, ocean acoustics, and check out the 3D visualization lab. Students had the opportunity to get their hands wet while exploring our ecosystems and touching live sea creatures.
Gunstock Mini-Job Fair - Oct. 22nd
Students had the opportunity to participate in the first ever Gunstock Mountain Resort mini-job fair held at BHS! They were able to hear about the various job openings, fill out applications, and learn about the benefits of working at the Mountain! Four lucky individuals will receive two free tubing passes for this upcoming season just for stopping by the table!
PSU with Mrs. Angela Pitrone
On October 16th, our drama students went to the NH Educational Theatre Guild's annual conference and workshops at Plymouth State University. They spent the day taking classes in everything theatre, from sword-making to improv, light design and technology to Shakespeare. They topped their day off as audience for PSU Theatre's performance of the musical, The Wedding Singer, based on the movie with Adam Sandler. It was an excellent opportunity learn and get to know other theatre enthusiasts from all around the state.
CATS! November 19-21st!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the performances: 7 PM, November 19-21st at BHS. We are transforming the cafeteria into a Broadway stage!
