Dan Koch's Satellite Build
This week from the WSI Maker Lab—-Students in Mr. Koch’s science class anxiously await the results of their satellite build. These young aeronautical engineers had the task of creating a satellite body to protect the internal computer system from the heat of orbiting Mercury. Their computer (pat of butter) had to survive the harsh conditions of the NASA test box which was filled with hot air from Mr. Koch’s hair dryer! Luckily, almost all computers remained intact!
More visits to Eminence, KY
This week, Kyle Jones, Julie Kissinger, Marc Hostetter, and Justin Fischer visited Buddy Berry and his Schools on Fire in Eminence, Ky. They were able to talk with Dr. Berry and visit classrooms and talk with teachers. They saw many colorful classroom store fronts and unique design thinking tools.
We appreciate our administrators for investigating new and innovative practices in hopes of improving student engagement and better preparation for the future!
Scratch in Brenda Zoller's Class
Students in Mrs. Zoller’s class are enjoying learning how to code video games using the block based program language Scratch. Scratch 3.0 is set to launch on January 29th. Scratch 3.0 is the next generation of Scratch. It is designed to expand how, what, and where you can create with Scratch. It will include dozens of new sprites, a totally new sound editor, and many new programming blocks. And with Scratch 3.0, you’ll be able to create and play projects on your tablet, in addition to your laptop or desktop computer. If your class would like to learn more about block programming , you can schedule a lesson with one of your eLearning coaches!
