FAFSA - FINANCIAL AID PACKAGES
Financial Aid Packages
Colleges have started to receive the much anticipated ISIRs (Institution Student Information Report) This means that college financial aid departments will have tuition numbers available to students. Specific dates and deadlines have not been released by the Federal Student Aid Dept.

FAFSA, is the Free Application for Student Aid. Due to a recent re-vamp of the software, the form is frequently unavailable due to work on debugging issues. Students working to complete the form and are experiencing problems should keep attempting to submit. It's recommended to work on the form in non-busy times such as mid-day and early morning.
Still need to start the form? Start by creating your FAFSA FSA ID: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing. You can find instructions to create the ID on the College and Career Website - Click HERE.

Paying for College with Scholarships!
QUESTBRIDGE SCHOLARSHIP: AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH ACHIEVING JUNIORS
Are you a high-achieving junior who comes from a low-income family? If so, you might be a candidate for one or both of the Questbridge programs listed below.
The Questbridge 2024 College Prep Scholars Program provides $1000 for a laptop and resources to help students prepare for college applications, such as access to a College Admissions Conference, an essay workshop and college visits. The application for the College Prep Scholarship Program is due March 20th.
The Questbridge National College Match connects students with top universities (ex. Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Princeton). This scholarship is very competitive with recipients receiving funding for four years to fully cover tuition, fees, housing, food, books, and travel expenses. This scholarship opens August 1st and is due September 26, 2024. If you are interested in more information, please see Kathy Stallkamp in the Tualatin High College and Career Center.

4/10 Washington County Farm Bureau Scholarship $2,500
Washington County Farm Bureau High School Graduate Scholarship application is open to all Washington County, Oregon High School graduates intending to study for a degree in agriculture, education, nursing, or vocational training.
4/12 Byrom Elementary Scholarship $500
Attended Byrom Elementary at least 1 year. Describe how you embody the Three B values of being safe, respectful, and responsible. Application is on Naviance.
4/12 Mike Rowe Work Ethic Scholarship
This scholarship is given to students planning to study approved jobs in the Trade industry. Includes electrical, welding, auto, aviation, construction, manufacturing and more.
4/13 Clackamas Community Foundation Scholarship
Variety of scholarships for different majors and financial situations.
4/13 Anne Ford Scholarship $10,000
The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year over four years) granted to a senior with a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD who will be enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program in the fall.
4/13 Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship $5,000
Articulates challenges and need for self-advocacy, sets realistic career goals, has demonstrated perseverance, participates in school and community activities. Awarded over 2 years to a HS senior going to community college, a vocational or technical program, or specialized program for LD and/or ADHD.
4/14 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Multiple scholarships for Hispanics planning to study STEM related fields. Applicants must be a member of SHPE and can join for a $5 fee. The organization provides internship information, connection to professionals and career guidance. Several different scholarships under this website.
4/15 Oregon Association of Nurseries $1,500
Students preparing for a career in ornamental horticulture and related fields. Student scholarship applications are evaluated based on career interests, scholastic aptitude, and financial need.
4/15 Oregon PTA's Teacher Education Scholarship $500
Oregon residents who want to teach in Oregon at an elementary or secondary school. The scholarship may be used at any Oregon public college or university that trains teachers or that transfers credits in education.
4/15 Global Lift Equipment Scholarship $500
Write a story in 2000 words or less from the viewpoint of an inanimate object. The object must be found on the company website in our Used Equipment Inventory Section.

U.S. Coast Guard Career Day - April 17th
2nd Annual Career Day - Come experience a day in the life!
The US Coast Guard Sector Columbia River is excited to announce that we are hosting our 2nd Annual Coast Guard Career Day for local students, guidance counselors, and teachers on April 17th from 0900-1230 (please see note on time, below). We hope to showcase to all in attendance what the Coast Guard is all about! This event is open to faculty and students, but please be sure to let us know if you intend to bring students or come alone as a school representative. Our main area of focus for students is any high school Junior/Senior and/or ROTC/JROCT students, but any student is welcome. The event will take place on our base located at 6767 N Basin Ave, Portland, OR 97217.

This FREE week-long pre-college program, held on the UO campus, gives students the chance to experience college life & get hands-on with exciting activities taught by UO's top-notch Faculty. For current 8th – 11th grade students. Day-Only and Day + Overnight programs are available!

Day Programs: July 22-26 or July 29-Aug 2
PNACAC College Fair - April 28th
Free and open to the public, PNACAC fairs connect you with colleges and universities in one convenient location.

Students: register in advance with StriveScan by filling out a quick form. After you sign up, StriveScan will send a barcode via text message and email. At the college fair, present your barcode to college representatives to receive more information about that college. The next day, receive an email with a report of all of the colleges and representatives you met, along with contact information and social media profiles.
2024 Youth Conservation Program Crew Opportunities! Ages 15-18
Are you interested the environment or working in your community on environmental projects? Come enjoy a unique experience and create memories and friendships that last a lifetime!
2024 Summer Crew Opportunities:
Residential:
Participants in this program spend three weeks in either the San Bernardino or the Superior National Forests living and working along side Crew Leaders and the U.S Forest Service. Students will work on trail maintenance, invasive species removal, fire dependent ecology/maintenance and more!

Virtual:
Participants in this program are immersed in the world of Green STEM careers and Environmental Science. They will be virtually connected to about 30 of their peers from around the country, as they learn about climate resilience, history of public lands, and more. This program also puts an emphasis on cultivating leadership and logistics management.

Cohort 2: July 15-August 2, 2024
Program Benefits:
In person program crew members will be eligible for a weekly stipend of $350 with airfare, meals and housing included. Virtual program crew members will be eligible for a weekly stipend of $250 for their participation.

Must be 15 by June 2024 and no older than 18 by August 2024
Must be enrolled in HS or 2024 Graduate
Must be U.S Citizen or permanent resident

SYNAPSE: Healthcare Career Explorations summer camp
WHAT: Synapse summer camp, hosted by the Oregon Healthcare Workforce Institute Area Health Education Center (OHWI AHEC) at Pacific University, is a health career exposure program for local high school students with underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The camp has been designed with support from our healthcare industry and education partners to increase students’ interest and knowledge to pursue careers in healthcare. Students participate in workshops, tours, job shadows, panel discussions, simulation labs, and additional hands-on activities.
WHEN: Pacific University Hillsboro campus (for Washington County students), June 17-21, 9am-5pm. Friday is a half-day, culminating in a luncheon with parents invited to join.
WHO: Synapse is for first-generation college, underrepresented minority, low SES, high school students who will be juniors and seniors '24-'25. Pacific Synapse will be accepting 30 students
COST: $285. Scholarships are available for all qualified students through generous support from CareOregon and Worksystems, Inc.
PRIORITY PLACEMENT: Priority registration will be given to students based on the following demographics: first-generation college, low SES, underrepresented minority. A waiting list will be kept once the 30 seats have been filled. See below for the scholarship code (required for registration).
Flyers, in both English & Spanish, are attached. Also attached is a list of application questions, in Spanish, in case your non-English speaking parents request information about the registration. Upon acceptance into the program, students will be sent an intake packet (releases, permissions, etc.) that will need to be completed and returned by Friday, May 3.

St Vincent's Hospital
St. Vincent's Hospital is searching for student volunteers at 3 locations (2 in Portland, Oregon City and Milwaukie) Students can work in the medical centers as greeters/wayfinders, gift shop attendants, checking in patients, supporting nurses stations, administrative work, and serving patients in rooms for students if over age 18.
There is a 4-hour commitment for 6 months or 100 hours per year (whichever comes first).
Students must be at least 16 years of age.
