Mount Vernon Field Trip March 31st
We are so excited about our upcoming field trip to Mount Vernon on Thursday, March 31st! Your child may wear a uniform shirt and blue jeans with sneakers on the day of the trip. Please send in a labeled disposable lunch and a water bottle. If you want to order a bagged lunch from the cafeteria, please send an email to your teacher.
We are leaving at 9:30 a.m. and returning at 3:00 p.m. Please refrain from giving money to your child for the field trip. We will not be going into the gift shop during our visit.
Chaperones, please come to your child’s classroom at 9:00
to help prepare for our departure.
Pennies for Patients
Pennington is collecting money from March 11th - April 1st for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Please collect money in the boxes provided and add them to your classroom’s collection box. Our goal is for each homeroom to raise $300. If each student donates $12.00 we will make our school goal of $7,200.00! Checks will be accepted and can be written to LLS and are tax deductible. The top earning class will win a lunch catered by Olive Garden!
Animal Projects
The students will write an informative report about any animal that reflects some simple research, has been proofread and rewritten with correct spelling, punctuation, and capitalization, penmanship that is a best effort, a nicely drawn and colored picture with a background, and a clear oral presentation at school of the report. Please see the suggested schedule for how to complete the animal report.
Reports & Drawings are due Friday, April 15th.
Send Water Bottles Daily
The weather is getting warmer, and the children are drinking more water. Please send a water bottle every day. It must be labeled and have a lid that seals.
Thank you!

STEAM Night April 6th
Chicks are coming!
We have collected enough money to participate in the wonderful program called “Rent-a-Coop.” For one month, we will have a cage, two baby chicks, an incubator and seven eggs. The children will watch the eggs develop and hatch. We will rent the coops from April 6 – May 4th.
A wonderful parent volunteer will be picking up the chicks and all equipment involved for all three first grade classrooms. Thank you!
Star of the Week Instructions
The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest
thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside-
Till I look down on the garden
green,
Down on the roof so brown-
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
