Monthly Pella Middle Leadership Message
Dear Pella Middle School Families,
We are excited to share that students at Pella Middle School are flexing and developing their leadership skills through our district-wide program, The Leader in Me. A really special part of this program is its potential to change perspectives. Those involved are gaining resources to help shift paradigms:
* See image below*
Leader in Me is built around the 8 habits. Your child has learned about each habit on Thursday and Friday, August 26 and 27, and over time, families will learn more about each habit during the school year through newsletters and family activity suggestions. If you'd like more information beforehand, check out the Leader in Me website.
As always, thank you for sharing your child with us at Pella Middle School. We look forward to partnering with you on this leadership journey!

The Counselor Connection
PMS School Counseling Program Overview
Academic Support: School counselors monitor student grades and proactively check-in with students who are experiencing academic difficulties. The school counselor can provide academic coaching to individual students on organization, time management, and test taking.
Social Emotional Support: School counselors conduct an annual needs assessment to get a sense of our student population’s social emotional needs. We provide short term group and individual counseling. School counselors are available to consult with parents on supporting their student’s social emotional needs.
Career Exploration & Academic Planning: Our students are starting to develop career interests and planning for the future. School counselors support our students using an online platform called Kuder Navigation (career exploration tool). We conduct annual classroom-based career exploration lessons. Additionally, counselors support students & families with planning out their academic pathway.
