Good evening, Titans!
I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the first day this year where the sun did not go down before 7:00 p.m. Please remember that today is Daylight Savings, and that you should have moved your clocks forward this morning. It will be a little darker when leaving for work and school tomorrow. Please do not forget that we have "sprung forward!"

Mulch Drop Off (NEW)
On March 15th the Booster Club scheduled several large tractor trailers to deliver approximately 8,000 bags of mulch for our annual mulch sale. In order for the trucks to enter/exit safely and to store the mulch, we need the highlighted areas to be completely cleared of cars by 3:00pm on that Friday. Thank you for your support.

Congratulation to our VAC Students (NEW)
Two of our VAC students are among the 25 Maryland Student Artists chosen to be part of the Reginald F. Lewis High School Juried Exhibition. The show will open in May and be up through the Summer. Congratulations to Alanna Sidlowski and Eric Le!
Towing to begin after spring break (NEW)
Due to the vast number of unauthorized vehicles parked on campus, beginning Tuesday, April 2, vehicles that are not authorized to park on campus will be towed. Vehicles will be given two warnings not to park on campus, and will be towed on the third violation.
- 1st Violation - Vehicles will receive a written notice on the windshield and the vehicle's make and model, and license plate will be recorded internally
- 2nd Violation - Vehicles will receive an orange violation sticker on their rear window. The vehicle's make and model, and license plate will be recorded internally
- 3rd Violation - The vehicle will be towed to Henry's Wrecker Service (see below)
- Misc. Incidents - Vehicles parked in handicap parking without the proper hang tags, that block fire hydrants or parked in fire lanes, or that block other vehicles in, are subject to being towed without warnings
While we do not desire to tow any vehicles, the vehicles that are parked without authorization are preventing AEHS and MCPS staff and visitors who are authorized to park, from parking on campus.
Please Note: Vehicles that are not authorized to park on campus are not registered with AEHS. Therefore, we do not know who these vehicles belong to. Therefore, we are also unable to contact parents of students who might own these vehicles to warn them about the vehicle being parked without permission. We will, however, make every effort to identify and contact owners prior to receiving a 3rd violation, but this may not be reasonable in most cases.
Please Also Note: Towing will begin April 2. The 1st warning, however, has already been giving to some drivers, which has been shared in previous newsletter. Additionally, only authorized/registered vehicles may park along the "strip," which is the sidewalk along Newport Mill Park. This is also on campus parking and is reserved for staff.

Asynchronous Learning Day Monday April 22 (REPEAT)
Dear MCPS Families,
This message is to inform you that Monday, April 22 will shift to an asynchronous learning day for all students. The day is designated as a professional development day for teachers and possible make-up day for students in the 2023-2024 Traditional School Year Calendar. Students will engage in learning experiences and complete work asynchronously.
Asynchronous learning allows for flexibility for students to complete assignments with or without the use of technology. Additional time for students to complete assignments is granted for challenges or unforeseen circumstances.
District leaders and central services staff have been planning and communicating with school leaders in preparation for the asynchronous learning day on April 22. Schools will share more details about their asynchronous virtual instruction plans with students and families in mid-March, including directions on how to access resources and additional services.
This day will remain a professional learning day for teachers who will participate in self-directed learning and planning. Telework will be permitted. In addition, teachers will have time to engage in the asynchronous professional learning module with a focus on the Equitable Teaching and Learning Framework. More information will be provided to staff in the upcoming weeks.
There have been three inclement weather school closures so far in the 2023-2024 school year—Jan. 16, Jan. 17 and Jan. 19. The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) provides the ability to repurpose certain days as virtual school days, including inclement weather days and staff professional learning days. MCPS has a built-in contingency plan that allows for two emergency school closures needed to make up the third emergency school closure day.
*Note: The calendar for the Innovative Schools, Arcola and Roscoe R. Nix elementary schools, does not change for Monday, April 22, 2024. It remains a non-instructional day for students and a professional learning day for teaching staff.

Mulch will be delivered by the athletes on Saturday, March 16.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are reaching out to request your assistance with the upcoming May 2024 Exam session for the AP/IB program. Specifically, we are in need of proctors for the AP and IB. Help AEHS Instrumental Music and Choral Students Attend the Spring Trip to Quantico & Williamsburg!
Hello Titan families!
The AEHS Instrumental Music and Choral students have a great opportunity to perform at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico and attend music and choral clinics at William & Mary University in Williamsburg in April 2024. Please help students cover the costs of this 3-day trip by making a donation!
This is an incredible opportunity for our AEHS musicians. Travel and other associated costs are not covered by the school, so we need your help. Please consider making a donation to PACE, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.
If you are supporting a specific student-musician, please check the "Write us a comment" box on the donation form and enter the student's full name in the comment section to ensure your donation will help cover costs for that student. Contributions without a comment will be used to support the entire experience and students who are most in need.
https://donorbox.org/im-choral-2024-spring
Please share with your family, friends and neighbors! Every dollar contributed will help offset the costs of this trip for our hardworking and talented student-musicians.
Thank you!
