Frederick Douglass is a well known civil rights leader. Frederick Douglass was born as a slave in Maryland in 1818. When he was old enough he was sent to Baltimore to learn the alphabet. He loved reading newspapers and sought out political writing. He became a civil rights activist and joined many churches which talked about abolition. Frederick Douglass tied to end slavery and also helped woman’s rights. He wrote many books about his life, and his freedom which include Narrative life of Frederick Douglass. Lastly He died on February 20 1895 in washington dc after a meeting, he had a heart attack.
