Celebration Weekend!
Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween and to our families that celebrate, we hope you had a Happy Diwali!
Norwood Food Pantry Food Drive
As it's almost November, it's time for the Coakley Annual Norwood Food Pantry Drive! Please see the list below for the items the pantry is looking for this year. they have asked that we ONLY collect the listed items to help with distribution!
Aspen Profile Updates
You may recall in the past that the Norwood Public Schools would send out Student Profile Update Sheets at the beginning of each year. With Aspen, we have been able to make that process simple and online. We are asking one member of each family to log into Aspen and complete the Online Returning Student registration (Despite the name ALL students need to have this done). The link below will lead you directly to the handout and video that shows you how to complete the process. While the video may be long (26 minutes) the process is not and using the handout may be sufficient for most families.
PTO Meeting and Dues
The PTO held it's second meeting of the year this past Tuesday. Attached to this newsletter you will find the notes from the meeting and the 2022-2023 PTO Dues Letter. A paper copy will be sent home next week.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher conferences will be held November 9th, 16th, and 17th. The conferences on the evenings of 11/9 and 11/1 will be in-person, conferences on the afternoon of the Students were asked to bring home letters this week (or they were emailed directly) and next week, teachers will send out a Sign-Up Genius. While there are never enough slots for all of our families, we will meet with all families that request a meeting. If the slots are filled when you go to register please reach out to your grade level guidance counselor and they will schedule a meeting with your child's team.
Bus Registration
All bus drivers now have a list of students that are registered for the bus. Most have passes, though we know we are still missing a few. Starting On Wednesday, November 2, students that are not registered for the bus will not be allowed to take the bus. Please make sure that your child is registered for the bus.
Parking
Please do not park in the lot by the gym (near Hawes Pool) before school starts. This is our staff parking lot and teachers need to be able to park before the school day begins.

News from the Nurse
Allergen information
We in the nurse office are ecstatic that free breakfast and lunch are available to all students for the 2022-23 school year. We would also like to remind all families that you can look at all menus online through the Norwood Public Schools site and that allergen and nutrition information is available for every single food item we serve. You can look at the site at home together with your student to identify safe and healthy choices appropriate for your student. Please don't hesitate to call the nurse office for assistance in navigating the site.
School Screenings
We are mandated by Massachusetts law to conduct vision, hearing, height and weight screening on all seventh graders and postural screening on all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. More information on these screenings are available on the NPS website and in the CMS handbook. We will be beginning these screenings over the next several weeks. Any parent or guardian wishing to opt your student out of any of these screenings should email tsperber@norwood.k12.ma.us or send in a written opt-out note. We need the opt out notices every year, so if you have opted out in the past, please do not assume that is still in place. Please don't hesitate to email tsperber@norwood.k12.ma.us or call 781-440-5926 with any questions or concerns.
Seventh Grade Physicals
Per state law, all seventh graders are required to submit an updated doctor's physical at the beginning of seventh grade. We are still waiting on many students; please send in the physicals.
As always, reach out to us any time.
