February Student of the Month
An EGG-ceptional Way to Start the Day
Before school started on March 28th, teachers and staff members were in a race against time (and each other) as they searched the campus for hidden treasures. Dr. Beaty had given each campus principal 3 Easter eggs to hide for staff to find. Two eggs contained a coupon for lunch provided by Dr. Beaty and one egg contained a coupon for a day off. Junior high teachers are a competitive bunch and they searched high and low and here and there until all three eggs were eventually found. Everyone enjoys this activity each year not only for the "treasures" inside the eggs, but also for the opportunity for little fun distraction.

Band Wins Sweepstakes Award
On March 29, 2018, the L.H. Rather Purple band competed in the Region 25 UIL Concert and Sight-reading contest. The band played for two panels of judges - one panel for the concert portion of the contest and one panel for the sight reading portion.
The band received superior ratings from both panels of judges resulting in a Sweepstakes award. The L.H. Rather band has not received this award in over twenty years. It was a historic day for the L.H. Rather band!
As the bus full of band students returned to school, the entire student body and staff of L.H. Rather lined both sides of Main Street and cheered in celebration of the band's fantastic accomplishment. It was most certainly a great day to be an L.H. Rather Indian!

National Junior Honor Society Induction
L. H. Rather Jr. High School is a proud participant in the National Junior Honor Society, an organization that promotes and recognizes outstanding accomplishments in scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service.
On Thursday, March 22, 2018, eight 7th grade students were inducted into the LHR NJHS at a ceremony held in the historic auditorium. These new members joined our nine current 8th grade members.
Congratulations to all of these scholars for their commitment to academic excellence, character and leadership.
