Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of May 1st, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
A quote in honor of Mother's Day: "Happiness is seeing your mother smile." Unknown
This has been an eventful week here at Davenport. The week started off on May 1st with Principal's Appreciation Day, Bus Driver Appreciation Day on May 2nd, followed by Teacher's Appreciation Week May 2nd-May 6th, and we will conclude our celebration on May 11th by recognizing our AWESOME school nurses. Our teachers and school nurses go above and beyond to ensure that the students are taken care of in every way. They EMBRACE our students showing them that they care, EDUCATE our students with fun and creative lessons, and ENGAGE our students in learning new information daily. For this, we are THANKFUL!
Also, this week our 3rd grade students were Rock Stars as they completed the NJSLA test with confidence. The students were focused and did their very best on the test. We are looking forward to a great state testing report. We are so very Proud of our 3rd graders! *Special shout out to our testing coordinators Mrs. Errickson and Mrs. Caruso for planning a smooth testing week for our students.
Looking ahead, we are excited to get back to our "pre-Covid" days by attending field trips and having school assemblies. We are asking parents to remember to submit permission slips in a timely fashion to ensure that your child is accounted for. As noted in the previous newsletter, information will be forthcoming regarding the 2nd and 3rd grade field trips.
As a reminder to Kindergarten and 1st grade parents, the students will be attending their field trip on May 13th. If you are planning to volunteer to accompany your child, please let the classroom teacher know as soon as possible.
Enjoy your weekend!
Mrs. White, Principal
Parents please be reminded of the following:

*Special Thank you to the Parents Club for showing their appreciation to the staff by hosting a luncheon for the teachers and recognizing our wonderful Davenport Moms at the Mother's Day Tea event.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Learning About Our Eco-System
Third grade students from Mrs. Rush/Mrs.Costello's class had a visit from the Cape May Nature Center in preparation for their upcoming field trip. The students learned about ocean creatures and how important all parts of a food web are to our ecosystem. Each student even participated as a part of the ocean food web.
