A Message from Mrs. Hines
Dear Roosevelt Families,
March is Reading Month! A big shout out to our teachers and PTO for decorating doors, dropping in for special read alouds, organizing our first Read a Thon and just making reading feel extra fun all month long! The bookfair is also coming so be on the lookout for times you can drop in and shop.
It has been such an honor leading the building while Mrs. Kyncl is recovering. I have a renewed sense of how special our building is and how committed to your children our teachers are. Roosevelt is certainly a great place to be!
With Gratitude,
Meg Hines

· Find the book fair in the Roosevelt School Library
ALL FOR BOOKS™
· Start saving your change and dollar bills for ALL FOR BOOKS™!
· The week of the book fair students may donate their change to raise money for ALL FOR BOOKS™.
· The money raised gets used to purchase books for ALL classroom libraries at Roosevelt.
· Scholastic matches the money we raised to distribute books to communities in need.
· The classroom that raises the most money by the end of the week wins a prize…A FREE BOOK FOR EVERY KID in the class!
WHY
· The book fair is not about raising money for the school. It’s about creating BOOKJOY and putting books in the hands of all children.
· By shopping the book fair, we earn Scholastic Dollars. Scholastic Dollars are used to purchase Scholastic magazines for every classroom, build classroom libraries, add to our school library, and get books into the hands of all our students.

A Note from the Office
Your child will receive a blue Intent to Return form on March 18th. We ask for all forms to be turned in on the 19th. Thank you.
If there is a need to have medication or cough drops at school for your child, please fill out the appropriate medication form that is found on our website. An adult is required to bring any medication into the school office as students are not permitted to carry themselves. We will store and dispense medication from the office. If you feel your child is done with taking their medication at school, you may pick it up at any time.
If your child will be late or absent, please contact the office before 9:00 am at 269-428-1416. You may leave a voicemail if you call in before school hours or if other calls are being attended to. It is required by the state to report the reason for an absence so please share the reason/symptom and/or type of illness if known. No communication about an absence will result in an unexcused absence for the day. Late students need to be signed in by an adult in the office (door 3).
If you have any questions, please reach out to memery@lpslancer.net or 269-428-1416.

Updated COVID Guidelines
We received confirmation from the Berrien County Health Department that the isolation period for those having COVID has changed. The CDC has now combined COVID, the flu, RSV, and other respiratory viral illnesses under one umbrella as far as how long to stay home to reduce the spread.
Updated Guidance: The updated Respiratory Virus Guidance recommends that people stay home and away from others until at least 24 hours after both their symptoms are getting better overall, and they have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). Note that depending on the length of symptoms, this period could be shorter, the same, or longer than the previous guidance for COVID-19.
It is important to note that the guidance doesn’t end with staying home and away from others when sick. The guidance encourages added precaution over the next five days after time at home, away from others, is over. Since some people remain contagious beyond the “stay-at-home” period, a period of added precaution using prevention strategies, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses can lower the chance of spreading respiratory viruses to others.

Picking Up An Ill Child
If they leave with a fever or they have vomited more that once, they will need to spend the following day out of school. They may return when they haven't had a fever or vomited for 24 hours without medication.
