Paths to Success - Skyline College, JUHSD, & JESD CTE Partnership Event
In partnership with Jefferson Elementary School District, JUHSD and Skyline College hosted a Paths to Success event for 200 8th-grade students from Daly City this past November 18th at Skyline College. The event promoted an understanding and connection of high school pathways and postsecondary opportunities for students through hands-on workshops. The workshops, featuring Digital Media, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Dance, Computer Science, Fashion Design, Automotive, and Manufacturing, were led by CTE teachers from Westmoor and Jefferson, Skyline professors, and high school students. 8th-grade students were able to experience a snapshot of the high school CTE classroom.
The event welcomed Myles Bess from KQED's Above the Noise, as the keynote speaker. Myles connected with the students through his educational experience and inspired them with his journey to success. Students left the day inspired, prepared, and ready to follow a path to success.

Terra Nova' Drama and Stage Technology Pathway
The Terra Nova High School Drama Department performed the absurd classic Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco to large crowds in the school's performing arts theater. This classic piece of literature Join Berenger, a likable guy who stands up for humanity in a world gone mad! As our hero's friends start changing into beasts, he slowly embraces the things that make life worth fighting for. This comical take on fascism and conformity is more relevant today than ever!
A shout out to Terra Nova's theatre arts program director Scot Schneider and his company for presenting such a professional show to the JUHSD community. To learn more about Terra Nova High School's theatre arts program, please visit their school's webpage.

Tips for using ‘My Tasks’ through CaliforniaColleges.edu
To help students with prioritizing their to-do’s, California Colleges offers a helpful tool called ‘My Tasks’. My Tasks allows students to add their tasks in an organized and accessible way with their upcoming deadlines, they can be categorized by academics, financial aid, college or career planning. My Tasks can even be accessed through your online calendar, printed out and shared with your counselor, parent or mentor to stay accountable and seek support when needed.
Students can access ‘My Tasks’ by:
Signing into California Colleges.edu
Important Links section in the right-side bar found on the ‘College, career, and financial aid’ pages
Some Tips to Remember when using ‘My Tasks’:
Keep tasks specific. Describe each task so you will be able to remember it when you read it again later.
Include details, so when you look back at My Tasks, you can pick up where you left off.
Add due dates. This will keep you on track towards checking items off of your list.
Share the list with someone else if you think it will help you stay on track. Having someone else remind you of key dates is a good way to hold yourself accountable.
For large projects, break it down into manageable tasks. For example, for applying to colleges, organize this project into three tasks: gathering application materials, writing a personal statement, and filling out college applications.
