A Note From Mrs. Donnell
With the start of a new year do you need a “Resolution” or a “Revolution”? Resolutions seem to fall away by the end of January, but what about a Revolution?
Though I am desperate to be transformed. No, I don’t need another New Year’s resolution that will leave me unchanged. What I need is a revolution. That’s the word.
Revolution.
It came to me clearly as I was carefully packing and cleaning up from Christmas and preparing for a new year. I don’t need another resolution… and I don’t need more resolve. What I need is more of Jesus. Not a resolution that I make, but a revolution that He makes… in me. Christ in me, revolting against me in this world. His power revolutionizing my weakness. His transforming purpose prevailing over all my plans in the new year. What I need in 2019 is a total Jesus-revolution, way down deep in my fibers. Down in my habits too; my eating and my shopping and the time I spend on social media. I need Jesus’ strength revolting against all of the areas of my life where I’ve been too weak for far too long!
My weakness stops me from turning resolutions into a reformed life. But the revolution power of Christ reforms and transforms me day-by-day-by-day, for 365 days as I learn to seek Him first.
I’m reminded of 2 Corinthians 12:9: “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”. That’s what I’m doing at the start of 2019, and I’m inviting you to do the same.
Boast in the One who has the power to completely revolutionize your life this year. Here at the start of 2019, let’s revolt against all of the things we’ve been running to for comfort, when we could have been (should have been) running to the Comforter. Let’s revolt against our tendency to self-medicate with online shopping and run instead to the Great Physician. Do you see what I’m saying? We can make resolutions to stop spending and stop eating and start working out, but we’re simply too weak and lack the resolve to make it work. We don’t need another resolution, we need a revolution of Christ’s power in us as we begin a new year, eagerly anticipating radical transformation!

Parents will be asked to volunteer to work the concession booth for home athletic events on specifically assigned dates. Again, after rosters are set, a list will be published for parents to assist in this endeavor. All efforts will be made so that no parent works during his/her student’s game.
Parent Participation Requirement: Parents should sign up for to help 4 times per basketball season and 2 times during soccer and volleyball for set up, clean up, concession and/or admissions and 1 Track or Stadium date. For any parent that does not sign up they will be assigned times to work that are not during your students games. If you need to switch there will be a master list with contact information and you can switch with someone. If hours are not fulfilled by participating students there will be an additional $200.00 fee. Each event served is equivalent to $40.00. The binder is located in the office.

Free Resource: Avoiding Chore Wars
Focus on the Family
The lines are drawn; kids on one side with you on the other. The firefight of words draws an explosion of anger from all involved. Your children say things like, “It’s not fair!” “Why do I have to do all the work?” “You don’t love me!” Consider this resource, Avoiding the Chore Wars, a peace treaty to end the fighting. You’ll find tools to help you talk to your kids about responsibility, age appropriate chore lists, and more.
