A Word from Father Gabriele
Dear Parents,
This Sunday, nineteen of our schoolchildren will be receiving their First Holy Communion and one more will receive it at the School Mass on May 1. What a joy!
This festive occasion is the catalyst for making a few “Eucharistic changes” to our parish. You all know that we are the only Catholic school east of 82nd Avenue and I would really like to make the parish have a schedule that compliments that of the school. For me, that means providing the opportunity for teachers and families alike to attend Daily Mass.
Starting next week, Daily Mass at St. Therese will be at 7:30 a.m. (Tuesday-Friday). In addition, to the 7:30 Mass, there will still be the Wednesday 8:30 School Mass. The weekend Masses remain unchanged. Since Mass only takes 30 minutes on a weekday, it will finish at 8:00, which is the normal time for drop-off.
I hope you might feel inspired to come a bit early and start the day with Jesus. I know that leaving a half hour early might prove difficult for the morning routine, but some of you might embrace the opportunity. If you come, please park in the spaces near the west entrance of the church or in the large parking lot but NOT in the first row of parking spaces which the teachers need to use so that end-of-the-day pick up goes smoothly.
This change will also affect the altar server schedule since they will not be leaving class anymore but need to come before school if they want to serve. I have seen some of my altar servers at extended care in the morning, so my hopes—and my offer to you parents—is that if your children would like to serve and come to Mass, you can drop them off at the church instead of at extended care. Together with Carmel, I will take responsibility for anyone who comes (2nd grade and older). They must be in the sacristy by 7:20. Following Holy Mass, I will walk them over to the school drop-off point.
I’m excited about this change and hope you are too! If you have any questions call me at the parish office or roll down your window at drop-off! I’d like to take this opportunity also to thank you for bringing your children here to St. Therese and supporting our mission to give them a good, Catholic education.
God bless you all,
Fr. Gabriele M.

We all know that the many activities for our children can be A LOT! Not only that, there are the associated costs with each of them. Metro Youth Symphony can alleviate a lot of that burden.
Great endorsement from a St. Therese parent whose children participate in the Metro Youth Symphony: "There are scholarships, free instrument loaners, and great structure and leaders for new and aspiring musicians."
