No School Friday, March 22nd - This is a Snow Makeup Day we did not need to use!
Bravo to our Frist and Second Graders on their Squirm Performance!
This week, our first and second grade students performed Squirm the musical, under the direction of our amazing music teacher, Ms. Turner! The students worked so hard and put on such a spirited and fun show! It was pretty astounding to watch 6, 7, and 8 year olds sing as a group, perform solos, and take on individual speaking roles in front of peers and families. What truly special kids we have!

As a part of the Enumclaw School District's commitment to monitoring student well-being, over the next two weeks, 3rd - 12th grade students at all Enumclaw schools will be taking an 18 question survey on belonging called the Psychological Sense of School Membership Scale. The questions can be viewed in the PDF below.
Choice Transfer Applications and Intra District Transfers
Do you, or someone you know, live outside of the Enumclaw School District boundaries and want to, or currently, attend school in Enumclaw? If so, a Choice Transfer application needs to be filled out for the upcoming school year during the ESD's "open enrollment" period of March 1st through March 31st. If this window of time is missed, the only other opportunity to submit a request will be August!
Do you, or someone you know, live within ESD boundaries and want to come to Sunrise instead of your home school? If so, NEW Intra District transfer requests are also due before March 31st with the only other opportunity to submit being August. Intra District Transfers are only completed once per school building, so if you are already at Sunrise you do not need to complete an Intra District form again.
For a complete look at the district's Choice Transfer procedures, please view this link.
PTO Meetings
The Sunrise PTO meeting is the second Tuesday of each month in the Sunrise Library. All parents are welcome to come to meetings and learn about ways to volunteer at or support Sunrise!
SBA Testing is in May for 3rd-5th Grade Students
Sunrise will be participating in state testing May 7th-9th, May 14th-16th, and May 21st-22nd. If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, please make it a priority to make sure your student is at school on testing days if they are well enough to be at school.

March Curriculum Highlight - AIMSweb Assessment
Report cards were sent home March 14th. One of the assessments we use to gauge student strengths and needs in literacy and math is called AIMSweb. This assessment is a widely used system that helps educators and parents monitor students' academic progress.
AIMSweb assessments are designed to provide an overview of your child's literacy and math skills. These assessments help identify areas of strength and areas that may need additional support.
The literacy assessment in AIMSweb includes components such as reading fluency, and optional assessments of comprehension and vocabulary. It helps measure your child's ability to decode words, understand text, and express ideas effectively.
The math assessment covers various mathematical concepts and skills, including computation, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. It aims to evaluate your child's understanding and application of mathematical principles.
Results from AIMSweb assessments are often compared to established benchmarks or grade-level expectations, which help to show us what each student’s strengths and needs are.
Parents/guardians must be volunteers in order to help in classrooms, eat lunch in the lunchroom with their child, or visit the playground to join their child at recess. The volunteer application is available by clicking the link below.
