Story Book Character Day
Guidelines for Story Book Character Dress Up Day
Costumes must follow school dress code guidelines and not represent, promote, or include horror, blood, guts, or weapons - nothing scary that could alarm our younger students.
Students/Teachers who decide to dress up need to bring the book that shows the character they have dressed like.
***Please make sure to discuss these expectations with students and maybe brainstorm appropriate costumes/books they could bring.
To incorporate this idea into your instructional day, depending on the ages and abilities of your students, you could let the kids read the book they brought during read to self time or you could have them write a summary of their book . You could read the book you bring to your class for read aloud time or do a language arts activity with your book. I am sure you all can come up with some very creative learning experiences for your kids to tie this special day to your language arts and/or math curriculum.
Below is a sample note to include in your classroom/grade level newsletter (the sooner this goes out, the better). Feel free to copy and paste.
Please join us in our school wide Storybook Character Dress Up Day on Friday, October 30. Some guidelines and expectations follow if your student wants to participate.
