Friday Family Message
Hello Families
To deliver on this promise, we must promote safe, secure, and respectful learning environments for each student. The use of the word “every” in our promise is intentional. Every is defined as “all the individual members of a set, without exception.”
As a school district, we welcome and value our students, staff, and families. Our commitment to educational equity will not waver.
Bus guidelines
To keep everyone safe on school buses and to abide by state law, please follow these guidelines while on a bus:
All items — such as sports equipment, instruments, and metal water bottles — must be completely secured inside of a closed bag or instrument case.
The bus is considered an extension of the school day, and students are expected to behave in a way that is consistent with school/classroom expectations.
For example, items such as bats, lacrosse sticks, tennis rackets, and Stanley water bottles must be secured inside a closed bag while on a school bus.
There are no exceptions to these rules and regulations, per WAC 392-145-021 (Washington State Administrative Code) and School Board policy.
We appreciate your help in making sure that our students continue to stay safe on the bus and following state law so our school buses remain in service.
Please contact our Transportation Department with any questions.
Congratulations to CTE students
Several of our Spartan CTE students put their skills to the test in recent weeks.
These students are honing valuable skills in welding, chemical calibration, pesticide label identification, stair jack layout, concrete calculation, small gas engines, and residential house wiring.
Meanwhile, 15 Spartans and advisor Tristan Hanson traveled to the Washington Technology Student Association State Conference to compete in a variety of technology, engineering, and leadership competitions.
Please join us in congratulating students on their state placings:
- 1st Place in Manufacturing Prototype: Colin Manzuk, Soren Anderson, and Oscar Cabe
- 1st Place in Transportation Modeling: Poppy Hanson
- 2nd Place in Manufacturing Prototype: Natalie Linville and Thomas Mendez
- 3rd Place in Infographics: Gracie Blue
- 4th Place in Manufacturing Prototype: Olivia Flickner, Poppy Hanson, Brenden Mugleston, and Scott McNeill
TSA is one of 8 recognized Career & Technical Student Organizations in Washington. It is focused on the development of STEM Careers. These organizations allow students to take what they have learned in our district's robust Career & Technical Education classes and apply this knowledge outside the school walls.
This allows students to demonstrate and develop their technical, leadership, and employability skills through hands-on application and various learning opportunities.
All the students’ hard work is laying the groundwork for bright futures!
Time is running out
There's only a few more days to take our annual Community Survey.
Your voice truly helps us plan for and prioritize for the years ahead as we adjust our practices in several ways to meet the needs of our students, staff, families, and community!
School Board update
Three students earned Shining Star awards at the March 19 regular Stanwood-Camano School Board meeting.
The board heard an update from Cedarhome Elementary principal Kimberly Caldwell on the school’s Annual Action Plans in addition to honoring Anya Gavrish as the school’s Shining Star for the year.
Church Creek Campus principal Ryan Pike, who presented the school’s Annual Action Plan update during the March 5 meeting, returned to honor Cooper Landucci of Lincoln Academy and Nicole Jacobsen of Lincoln Hill High with Shining Star awards.
Then, Superintendent Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh provided an Enrollment Report update, and Ruth Floyd, Executive Director of Business Services, gave a report on the district’s Risk Management Program Status.
