Warrior Weekly News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
April 5, 2024
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
According to several teenagers, I might be a bit odd. Shocking right? Apparently, my excitement that Spring Break was over and our classrooms and hallways were again filled with the energy, excitement, and smiles that our Warriors bring was a little much for them. Life is about growing and improving, so I will try harder in the future to limit my excitement. However, I stand behind my enthusiasm. 😁
The return from break also signifies that we are entering the final stretch of the 2023-24 school year. It may seem hard to believe, but there are only eight weeks remaining. For our seniors, the realization that the incredible journey of “forced” learning is nearing the end. Conversations about graduation and the next phase of life really begin to sink in. Talk of “this will be our last time…” begin to echo in our hallways and our classrooms. It truly is an emotional and powerful journey. What our seniors begin to realize is that life goes fast and opportunities are not as unlimited as they might have imagined. Each day brings the gift of opportunity, but we must choose to capitalize on them. Right now is the perfect time to remind your students to review their goals, make adjustments where necessary, and give their all to make the most of each of the remaining days of the school year. Let’s finish strong and finish like Warriors!
Additionally, remember that the return from spring break means that our spring sports season and many other activities are now in full swing. Be sure to check our webpage for upcoming events and make it a point to get to an event and cheer on our Warriors. Our students truly appreciate your support!
Have an awesome weekend and GO WARRIORS!

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
Wisconsin State Honors Choir selections
It is my pleasure to let you know that Muskego has 6 students who have earned membership in the Wisconsin School Music Association Wisconsin State Honors Choir for 2024. Here are their names (graduating seniors are not eligible):
Dylana Bauduin (10)
Lauren Bishop (11)
Lincoln Donner (11)
Maddie Lentz (9)
Nina Sims (10)
Maggie Waldoch (11)
The Wisconsin State Honors Choir Program conducts statewide auditions in February and releases their selections in April of each year. Annually, approximately 2,500 choral musicians go through a rigorous audition for 200 places (2 choirs of 100 each) in the Honors Choir Program. Selection to this group is the most prestigious honor for a high school musician. These students attend a summer camp where, under the direction of a major conductor from somewhere in the United States, they prepare for a concert, which is given at the end of the camp. These students reconvene in October during the state music teacher conference in Madison where they reassemble their work from the summer and then make a major performance at the Overture Center. Their concert is broadcast on PBS.
It is a major honor for a school to have a single representative in the Honors Program, and when a school has two or three participants it seems to garner special attention. Here is the representation by Muskego High School in recent years (a nice rebound from post pandemic years):
2024 - 6
2023 - 3
2022 - 2
2021 - 2
We are very proud of all of our students for their ongoing hard work, their passion for the choral art, and their drive for excellence. I think these students are very deserving of recognition for their accomplishment.
Thank you,
Matt Wanner and Genevieve Michels
DISTRACTED DRIVING DEMONSTRATION
The FBLA’s Distracted Driving Demonstration is ONE week away and we wanted to take this time to remind all parents the details of the event as well as the resources that will be available to our students. On April 12th, our Future Business Leaders of America students will facilitate a distracted driving demonstration in partnership with the Muskego Police Department, Tess Corners Fire Department, and Flight for Life. Please be aware the demonstration is intended to be emotional and graphic. We acknowledge that the scene can affect each student differently, so in preparation, student services and guidance counselors will also be available for needed counseling on an individual basis. We will also conduct a conversational debrief in a small class setting to discuss emotions that may have been evoked. Please continue to encourage your students to take this event seriously and talk with them about the dangers of texting while driving and/or driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Raising awareness and reminding students of the dangers associated with this behavior just might save a life.
Thank you for your support on this collaborative project!

MHS Student Parking
Dear Warrior Families,
We have reached the point in the school year where we have sold and fulfilled the number of parking passes for students that equals the number of student parking spots we have on the high school campus. We know that it is an exciting time in a teenagers life when they get their driver's license and want to continue to provide parking for new drivers moving forward. At this time if a student were to need to purchase a parking pass, it would be for our "satellite" parking lot by the soccer field. There will be a satellite lot specific parking pass issued to the student at a reduced rate of $20, students would need to register their vehicles just as in any other case. These parking passes can be picked up in the Athletic/Activities Office and paid for through Infinite Campus.
Just as a reminder, any vehicle on campus without the appropriate parking pass may be ticketed by the City of Muskego Police Department.
Please reach out to Mr. Brenton Roberts with any questions: brenton.roberts@muskegonorway.org or 262-971-1790 ext 4502
BUS BEHAVIOR
We would like to remind you that bus behavior is an extension of the school day, and riding on the bus is a privilege afforded to our students. Just as we expect respectful and responsible behavior in the classroom, we also expect the same standards to be upheld while traveling to and from school. It's crucial for the safety and well-being of all students that good behavior is maintained on the bus. We kindly request your support in reinforcing this message with your child, emphasizing the importance of respectful conduct during their bus rides. Together, we can ensure a positive and safe environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation.
