Gator Greetings
We had a wonderful first full week of school as students are jumping right into learning. Students in grades 4 and 5 had the best time ever on Thursday at our first Gator Jam! Teachers will be assessing students over the next few weeks in literacy and math to determine where students are with their learning so we can best support children at their individual level. You can learn all about this and more from your child’s teacher at Back-to-School-Night next Thursday evening.
The School Board met on Wednesday and has adopted updated COVID-19 Protocols. Please note that starting on Monday all visitors, staff, and students are required to wear a face covering inside regardless of vaccination status. If you are dropping off or picking up at AV, please be sure to wear your mask. More detailed information can be found using this link: COVID-19 Protocols WTS 8/16/2021
Back-to-School Night is on Thursday, August 19th from 5:30-8:00 pm. Due to COVID protocols, we have made some adjustments to the times. Please see specific grade level information below. Childcare will not be provided, as this is an adult only event so teachers can share information with parents/guardians about the school year. Face Coverings will be required for all in attendance regardless of vaccination status so please plan accordingly.

Introducing Ms. Krupa
I’m Kathleen Krupa and I am so excited to be the new music teacher at Allisonville! I am from Indianapolis (went to Pike Township schools) and attended Ball State University for Vocal Music Education. After graduating from Ball State, I had to opportunity to be a founding staff member at a brand new elementary school in Arlington, Virginia. I loved having the experience of growing my own music program and going through all of the challenges of being a first time teacher at a brand new school. I started a 5th grade musical and a 4th/5th grade chorus as well as teaching PK-5th grade general music. I taught in Arlington for 5 years, but had to make the hard decision to move back to the Midwest once schools shut down due to Covid. I worked in Lafayette last year as an elementary music teacher and decided that I wanted to be back in Indianapolis full time to be closer to my growing family. I am so happy to be at Allisonville! I have now met all of the students and staff members. Everyone has been so welcoming, which always helps with transitioning to a new school. I am looking forward to bringing my expertise in musicals and choir to Allisonville and starting some wonderful new programs in the near future. I look forward to making music with all of your students in music class each week and watching them grow as wonderful musicians. Feel free to reach out with questions or a short email introducing yourself and I look forward to meeting all of you soon!

Boy Scout Troop
Thank you to our Boy Scout Troop for cleaning up the pond at AV last weekend! Did you know we had a pond? We do! It’s in the back across from the Gaga Pits and is a place that classes like to go to do outdoor learning.
